This dupe glitch is mostly my fault. When I wrote the new save format (McRegion) in January 2011, chunks were much smaller, and I didn't imagine one being larger than 1MB after compression, so I stored chunk size as an 8-bit quantity representing the number of 4KB chunks. Anything larger would be *silently* discarded. This wasn't very easy to hit until custom books were introduced in 2012. Mojang's bugfix stores huge chunks in their own files. Funfact: The "you can't write books" "fix" actually just prevented you from right clicking while holding a book and quill, or rather ignored the event. Calling the right click action from code worked though, so that's why you still were able to write them using your bot.

Or every block in the game, might aswell close the server shop at this point.

This dupe glitch holds a special place in my heart as well, it was my introduction into the world of modded Minecraft and eventually exploring how Minecraft itself works. I used it on many of my friends servers to show off. Sad to see it gone but it makes sense.

Civilization 6 had a duplication exploit with a story similar to that of the chunk dupe. The exploit in question was the pantheon dupe, commonly known as just the pantheon exploit. The way the exploit works is that whenever you choose a pantheon and hit the escape key at the same time, the choose pantheon menu is still open. There was a mod that tried to patch it, but I was able to bypass that patch with an auto-clicker. I even used autoclickers when I wasn’t using the mod, as it was more reliable than doing it by hand. It eventually got patched by the developers at Firaxis on the same update that started the New Frontier Pass, which is a chain of 6 DLC that get released at a rate of one every 2 months. That update also patched district duplication, government reset, and a few other exploits.

Fun fact is that some of the older duping glitches still kinda work. You can still send a llama through an end portal while its dying and duplicate items. It's not as easy to pull off as it used to be, but it can still be pulled off.

@@moussamohamed522 just search up mcpe duplication glitch. But i can tell you how it works: just place a sticky piston and put a chest on top. Put a wooden button on it. Press the button, open the chest (now in a different position) and move aby item from it to your inventory just before it goes back down. If you get the timing right the item will appear in your inventory but also stay inside the chest. Works with shulkers and whole stacks, too

You know, the funny thing is that I actually stumbled across this glitch in 1.8 and didn't even realize it. I had a ton of information in a chunk. When I spawned a particular villager in, the chunk would never "save" (it would revert to before the villager was there). I didn't think much of it, I thought it was a one-off quirk and found a workaround. Bravo to those who looked into it more and actually discovered the dupe.

Hey sal, awesome video although I would like to throw my 2 cents in if you don’t mind. First I would argue that the 1.12 stacking dupe is by far more over powered than the chunk dupe. The only real benefit to the chunk dupe is that it can be automated with redstone. The crafting dupe however is faster, can be done earlier, and can be done with less resources than the chunk dupe. I would also like to point out that the paper patch that you mentioned while it did make everyone freak out for a while can actually be bypassed still just by using more books, rather than having 1kb of data that can be stored that paper team caped it at 3kb of data per chunk so it is still by passable if you use a new setup. Unfortunately the real nail in the coffin for this dupe was when mojang themselves patched it in 1.13. If people have questions about this topic feel free to reply here and I would love to start a discussion.

my idea to fix duping in general (although may kill the performance of a server): assign every instance of an item a UUID. keep a global ledger of where items should be by their UUID. any time an inventory is loaded, check each of the items in it for whether the ledger says they should be in this inventory - if not, remove it. also, perform that check whenever an item goes into crafting or trading. if it isn't supposed to be there, then it disapear. we don't want some duped item laundrying.

Before this was patched, I created a linux script that would check filesizes of everyone's playerdata file regularly ... with this method I caught a fair ammount of players attempting to execute the dupe. The script would back-up the offending playerdata, and then send a notification to my staff channel in discord --- Which then we issued immidate bans. For context, this is on a Vanilla server, no plugins or modifications .. all external bash scripts.

I banned that name in early 2019 during one of the worst dupes I'd ever seen on the server I staffed on! :D Just checked my screenshots of that event: I have screenshots of a guy in our staff chat saying that "Salc1" was in our discord trying to add all the staff members as friends lol, then I remembered I saw that guy jumping around at /warp shop before logging off.... At the time I didn't know that name was anything important!! I can't find our server in your videos though, maybe our staff team just banned everyone too quick for a video on it to be interesting.....?, I played a large part in that! :)) Since then I've realsed though that the server I staffed on for more than a year, and had played on for 2 years, was actually a P2W server - for the longest time I didn't know about P2W - this server was the third MC server I'd ever played on, so couldn't compare it to much else. Now I see why we got the number of bot attacks and dupers we did! Those people raided our server so much because it was part of their anti-P2W agenda!! ......As I have a lot of nostalgia for that server, I'd hate to see it get raided again anytime soon, but I gotta respect the reasoning behind efforts by people like you, P2W does suck :')

I know how to dupe but it only works on servers and realms (BEDROCK ONLY) You need: 1 sticky piston 1 button 1 chest To use it you need to press the button of the the piston and it will push the chest Open the chest quickly and before the piston retracts you get the item Open the chest and you will have the duped item in the chest and in your inventory. Have fun!

Works only on bedrock my dude. Or you can place a shulkerbox and destroy it then once you have it in your inv place it again and its duped...
