Late 2015, Modern Baseball released an EP titled "MOBO Presents: The Perfect Cast EP featuring Modern Baseball". And over time, it's become my favorite Modern Baseball release, and from what I can tell, it seems like others are beginning to feel that way as well.
In this video I talk about how Modern Baseball wrote their best album or technically EP but that's not as catchy. I discuss EP itself, where the band was at when it came out, the lyrics, and even the album artwork.
I'm interested to see in 5 years if the Perfect Cast is still my favorite MOBO album. All I know is, I'll still be missing them. I hope your day is well.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sup my mates, hope you've all been well. If you're reading all the way down here, I have a secret. I recorded a podcast with Eric from Heart Attack Man and it'll be going up late this week. It'll be the kickoff for the Matesclub Podcast. I can't wait to show you all. Thank you all so much. -Nate

i listened to this ep and then heard the context of it later, and it really is very special. some of the lyrics sting a bit more knowing that this was kind of when things started to fall apart for bren, and u can really hear it in his voice, especially on thrash particle. while holy ghost will still always be my favorite, perfect cast is a very close runner up. and honestly, as much it hurts to know that there won’t be any more from them, i think just another face was the perfect way to lay modern baseball to rest. will always love these dorks

Was supposed to see them a second time right before they broke up... was so sad it literally hits hard to this day. Here’s to MoBo.

I really appreciate how you drew the connection between the EP and Holy Ghost. My favorite song from the album Hiding makes me reflect on this time where Brendan was feeling alone. “Are you hiding or have I abandoned you?” The song is sung by Jake, and it’s the last one he sings on the record. And how much the band was doing at the time I wonder if he feels a little guilt about how hard the band was going during that time. Connecting it to with Nameless Ranger I completely agree it’s a reflection on how Brendan was just starting to feel like he was growing out of MOBO. Thrash Particle is my favorite song on the EP. Nate this is one of your best videos for me, and this is my favorite Mobo release as well.

@5 minute mark what is being discussed is spot on by the narrator. As someone who got stuck in one of those alleys personally - the worst part is once that everything has been sorted out - the friends that you are supposed to be able to count on are the first to distance themselves. I get that there are scenarios where that's just fin and makes sense - a lot of the times people just do what's easiest and smooth selfishly. I had so so many friends - during Covid - somebody please keep an eye on Bryn....right now is when he needs people the MOST

The Goofy Movie appreciation alone is enough to make this a great EP but it helps that the music is good - I was lucky enough to see them live once right before they split. Great video !

I never really got into their later stuff. Sports is one of my favorite albums of all time. Not sure what made me fall off them. Guess I fell out of emo a little bit when I went away to college back at the end of 2014. Looking forward to listening to this and their last record today. Stay good king 👑

im glad i was able to watch these guys play; but so unlucky that i didn't know who they were or their music that much when i saw them. Glad i started listening after that show, but so bittersweet.
