Bro this one time I was visiting family in Michigan, and my family got an Air bnb in some random location. The person who owned the house had a collection of records. On the last day we were there, my cousin and I were going through the records. My cousin says “modern baseball?” I was taken aback cause that did not fit in with the other records. The sleeve had a hand written note on a paper towel from MODERN BASEBALL. Thanking the owner for letting them stay there and then gave the owner the record as a gift.

I'm actually very surprised you don't know about The Quark. They just have a cover of that song (originally by the Hard Girls) released on "Asian Man Music for Asian Man People Vol 2" which is a compilation album by Asian Man Records which idk why they're on but the song really good. It also features Ian on vocals which I believe is the only time he's ever sung for a studio recorded MOBO song.

The “permanent hiatus” is more accurate than a lot of people think. I think a lot of people don’t realize that Jake and Ian are not friends with Bren anymore. I forget the name of the podcast, but they had Jake on, and he was very kind and respectful, but didn’t really have anything pleasant to say about Bren and referred to their friendship in the past tense. He said a couple times “when Bren and I were friends.” I’m also fairly certain the band was really not happy with Bren when they had to cancel that last tour. I think that was the last straw, and why they decided to end the band. Idk, people can always patch things up I guess, but Bren seems like a very tortured individual mentally, and my heart breaks for them. That said, I’ve heard from a few people that Bren doesn’t do themselves any favors by not taking the appropriate steps to address their mental health and substance abuse problems, and that’s what led to the end of the band. I obviously wasn’t in the band, so don’t take this for gospel, but it seems like legitimate information given what is public information directly from Jake. He’s kind of said as much, just not as direct.

Its strange how I came to listen to BTFL first and it was the thing that took me to Mobo I used to be addicted to cute girls making ukulele covers (it was a sad part of my life) and one day I saw Emma noodle making a cover of "How to tell a girl I want to kiss her" (and just by the name you can see its some Brendan gold) I felt in love with everything but then I got curious because in the cover was written "modern baseball"

Old video, probably missed the relevant time to comment but oh well! I was at the MoBo Killers cover set! It was during Fest 14 in Gainesville on Halloween. There’s a full video of it on KZbin, I’m pretty sure I was standing next to the guy filming it. Greg and Tom from The Menzingers and Bobby from Captain, We’re Sinking made guest appearances, a bunch of people were in costume, it was one of my favorite sets I’ve seen. I will note that in hindsight at both that show and their regular set Bren seemed a bit quiet and distant, they barely sang or talk during the Killers set and seemed off on their main set. This was before Holy Ghost came out, so they were probably at their worst mentally. I saw they perform solo after the band broke up, they seemed to be a lot happier, but that was almost 5 years ago. Miss this band a lot, SBD is great but I would love if MoBo came back
