Yes yes yes yes.... My family gets sick of hearing about the garden and my friends look at me like I'm nuts... neighbors can care less... by the looks of their lawn! I know the feeling! Your lawn is gorgeous and you have a great eye for making an interesting and beautiful landscape! I bought my home about 4 years ago and it was a clean canvas for me to work my magic and use my imagination!

Just curious if you had to put in any French drains at the bottom of your yard, before the pond, to catch the hard rains?

Good question. I did not do a French drain. The creek with the shallow water will fill up entirely and then spill over into the dry creek. That's the extent of it. Hope this helps.

Good job on you dry beds and water retention. I too had that in my yard necessitating a dry river bed in the back yard. We live on my husband's homestead and working small farm. So I too had a blank canvas with one tree. And because we only have a well, most everything had to be drought tolerant. Lots of trial and error. We've had an excessive amount of rain this year with the river bed working perfectly draining off to the pasture and tank. It is hard to think you've only been gardening about 5 years. I'm really enjoying your tours. My sister has joined on too. Your garden is gorgeous!

You know what I do with evergreens (I have like 13)? I place them on the property line to create a privacy fence yet let more than the recommended space in-between so that I can add tall grasses and bright showy shrubs between and slightly in front of the greens so it appears the space behind is continues!! Creat the illusion the property is larger than it really is. We have a saying here at the house. "You do you" Make the decision and run with it!! Do what makes you happy!!! Happy gardening!!
