I’ve been intrigued with Nissan for years, I’ve owned 3 Tacomas a FJ Cruiser and a 16 JK (never again). I just turned 50, finally have funds to play and really build a nice overland vehicle. I’ve chosen a 17 crew Frontier S (I like a challenge) with low miles that I’ll be converting. I believe Nissan has a great platform with tons of potential. Keep up the great videos, keep us posted with everything you find.

Certainly right about never owning a '16 JK. I just sold mine last weekend and after doing about 2 weeks of solid research on the new Frontiers, I picked up a '22 Frontier and I'm happy with it so far and now I'm looking for accessories for it.

Long Range America used to make a 38 gallon tank for the Frontier, sadly it's no longer on their site. As far as parts, there is some support;Alldogs Offroad, Nisstec, Rugged Rocks, HeftyFab, and Schrockworks are good places to start. ARB, Wambumpers, and Coastal Offroad also offer some Frontier specific products.

All Dogs Offroad has been mentioned and I have their complete lift kit that has been a game changer. Also looking at the new wheels and UCA's. Hefty Fabworks has aluminum and steel bumpers (I'm installing the front Alu version today), skid plates, sliders, recovery points etc. Lastly, Z1 Off-road carries full line performance and OEM for all Nissan trucks. They are developing a line of Frontier specific parts, too. Hope some of this helps others.

I run a 2018 Nissan Titan. It's well used and has seen both coasts and just about everywhere in the US. I love the truck, but aftermarket support is abysmal. Hammerhead makes a front bumper, Leitner supports the platform with their rack, Thule makes some roof bars and Decked makes a version that fits the Titan (I own all four and they are great), but everything else has been DIY. There have been many times I wished I bought a different platform and it's solely because of aftermarket issue. I realize it's in the lower quartile of trucks sold, and manufacturers need to support the leaders in the segment, but it's almost comical how little Nissan is supported or viewed as a viable platform. I think that if you and others continue to produce content, that may help, but ultimately there are not enough trucks sold (Frontier or Titan) to make is viable. Keep up the good work.

It has been xtremely frustrating to say the least. I've had my xterra for 2 years now. The deficiency of aftermarket support for the xterra and frontier is disheartening. FYI, that deal ended up not working out. I do have a video about how I adapted the RAM Mount system to my Frontier: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5yVh4ZspZeUkLc That has worked very well, though some years later, the mounting rail I used has failed (though that same piece of rail was also previously installed in my Forester and it did last a good long while for a very low price). I would recommend looking at their sturdier rail options, but overall I have been very pleased with the RAM system. Not cheap but has proven worth the investment in the long run.

I've been a Frontier owner since '08 (an '08 and '19). One of my biggest frustrations is finding *any*thing aftermarket for them. You'd think that with very little/no change from '05-'21 (body/frame wise), there'd be a ton of stuff. I absolutely LOVE my '19. I contacted Expedition Essentials myself, mentioned your video and my desire for support for a Frontier and they simply responded "we don't manufacture a mount for the Nissan Frontier at this time". That means they probably never will. There are TONS of cool aftermarket products out there, just not for our trucks. But I don't care. I'll take my Frontier over a Tacoma or Wrangler every single day.
@softroadingthewest3 жыл бұрын
Well, they haven't yet had the opportunity to see the community response here. I want to give this and the previous video a week or two to collect responses, then I will be back in touch with them with my results and see where we're at. It makes total sense that any company would hesitate to invest in R&D for a product they don't know will sell in adequate numbers. I'm hoping I can convince them. :-)
@mungabrown65433 жыл бұрын
@@softroadingthewest I hope so. I would've thought that 15 years of no change in styling would've been enough to convince them that there have got to be enough people that have these Frontiers to recoup our investment.

Good evening from Godley Texas, I'm enjoying your tips on using the Contractor Cap, along with your adventures. Have you given any thought to installing a Fantastic Fan between the roof braces using 1 by 2 to support and affix the fan to inside the cap? Stay safe on your journeys.
@softroadingthewest3 жыл бұрын
Something like that is an option I'm keeping in mind, but I'm hesitant to cut a hole in the roof if it's not absolutely necessary (I believe this will void the warranty on my cap). So far, camping with it during the hot months this past summer, I didn't have a need for additional ventilation beyond the windows...by the time I would go to bed, it had always cooled down enough. And so far with cold weather camping at elevation over the past month, I wouldn't want to create a draft. Perhaps if I have to travel someplace where it doesn't cool down at night, this might become a higher priority. But I generally avoid going to places like that in summer anyway and aim for high elevations or coastal areas for summer trips.

I've had my Frontier PRO-4X since 2011 and until recently, trying to find aftermarket 4X4 parts was essentially impossible. Last year, I found Alldogs Offroad Coop and upgraded my suspension then I found Shrockworks for offroad bumpers and rock sliders (on order). Then just a few months ago I learned about NISMO. One of the things I never liked about my Frontier is the headlights, especially the highbeams that seem pretty ineffective. Last year I installed LEDs and that made a nice difference in the lowbeams and while the light was brighter and cleaner, the highbeams still seemed useless. About the same time that I learned about NISMO, I also learned about the Morimoto XB Hybrid LED Headlights (LF475) or the Frontier. They're NOT cheap, but they're supposed to keep the highbeams focused on the road where I prefer them, instead of everywhere else.

But despite my googling they never once came up in a search (a solid failure in their web presence). I'm going to be checking them out (especially that bumper) over the weekend and likely place an order to try them out before jumping into larger purchases there. They absolutely need to get the gen2 frontier parts listed if not. Where do I sign the petition? And do I need to bring my own pitch fork (joking)?
