You mentioned total miles that Toyota and others can go for, ie 300 - 400k, and I'd like to toss my old Ford into the list. I had an '85 F250 with the 351 Winsor motor, ran perfect and never had any major engine trouble, no rebuilds ect. The worst problem it ever had was the water pump. Doesn't sound very impressive until you put into perspective that when I sold it, it had 380k miles on it and is still going very strong at around 412k last I heard.

I've wanted a Toyota 4Runner for the longest time. Was panning to buy a new truck ($38K or so) but recently decided to wait with the finance rates being so high and whatnot. By the time I can afford to buy a 4Runner, the '24s will probably all be used and the 25's will be a huge X-factor; same with the Tacomas.

Saving money is the best way to make anything in life affordable. Get a side account, whether it be a savings account, or a money market account like Robinhood... anything you won't be tempted to touch. Now have automatically have this account take $30 from your main bank account every business day (Monday through Friday). Don't even look at it for a year. After a year, you will have $7800. After 3 years you will have over $23k. After 10 years you will have almost $80k. Buying expensive things doesn't require you to be rich, it just requires time and discipline if your short on cash.

The problem with buying a used vehicle right now is the insane interest rates on said used vehicles. Even with really good credit people are still paying 8, 9, 10, 11 percent for a certified pre-owned vehicle. In contrast, the interest rate on my 2023 Tacoma 4x4 was 2.75%.
@jimmycristofoletti7044 Жыл бұрын
There’s a major drop coming for the used market because of dealer overstock on new vehicles. It’s estimated to occur later this fall going into winter. Dealers are getting flooded with new vehicles which are not moving. In turn rates will go down and most likely, if you’re financially stable enough, you’d be able to pay in cash for a used vehicle because they’re going to be marked considerably down.

Bought mine in april. So far i love it. Plenty of power for moderate towing, reasonable mileage, smooth quiet ride. MY ONLY COMPLAINT is the cruise control. You need to gas pedal up any incline or the truck will drop like 4 gears and rev ridiculously high. Gas pedal up any incline and it usually wont drop a single gear.
@louisstennes3 Жыл бұрын
That's the trouble with these 8 and 9 speed transmissions. To much gear hunting. I have an old school Titan v8 with a 4 speed auto and tow mode. Works perfectly and smooth as butter. I can't even tell it is shifting. I am not a fan of cruise control but when I do use it, it doesn't have what you describe as it kicks it down into 3rd and the only reason I know is because I can see the RPMs rise a little. after driving F-150's for the past 30+ years, owned 3 of them. i decided to downsized. looked at all the other trucks, Toyota, Ford and even Honda Ridgeline. ended up with the Frontier. biggest selling point is the v6, no turbos. to me i like my trucks simple. automatic with my bad knees. a/c, power windows and mirrors. everything else is extra and more stuff to break. would have love to get a Toyota or Ford, but not keen on the turbos. again that more stuff to break. love the truck. still need to get used to drive something small after all these years. and the price was right for a brand new one. the used Toyotas and Fords cost just as much, if not more. no brainer to get a new one

The Frontier is a grossly underrated truck. It's just as dependable and long-lasting as a Tacoma, but without the "Toyota tax" new and used. My father bought a 2003 Frontier used with 77k miles and drove it to 180k miles with not a single mechanical problem. I think this new Frontier is a better-looking truck than the all-new 2024 Tacoma too. The naturally aspirated 3.8L V6 is also much more desirable than Toyota's 2.4L 4cyl turbo. I'm seriously considering a Frontier to replace my aging 2007 GMC Canyon. I want a simple, basic work truck with 2 doors and a 6ft bed. The Frontier seems like a great choice.
