AJ, I appreciate your work on this channel a TON! I heard you on Allen Lee's podcast, and I've been blessed to have your information as I started up my business in August of this year. I'm a part time guy myself, and it's been awesome to have you as an example. The hourly rate is always a top concern among guys I've talked to. This video is a fantastic resource. Keep it up!

Wow, thank you so much for taking your own time to put this together. I wanted to know what this data was for a while now I just never knew how to get it. Thank you for that.

Can you do another with rural, suburbs, and city? Or based on median household income?

Thank you for the comment. I am in the process of creating a more detailed survey to include these items. I will announce the release of the survey on this channel and share the results with the community.

Hey AJ, just found your channel - love this content. Im in tech full time too, very similar circumstances. Love to know what you think of this. Since im only working after hours nights and weekends, the time when full time handymen are probably not going after, im thinking of marketing my company as “specializing in after hours nights and weekends emergency urgent repairs”. Basically take a negative and turn it into a positive. As a bonys may be able to charge an extra premium for off hours work? I know around my house it usually seems to be weekend or after hours when something breaks. Since I can fix it myself, its not really an issue, but if I was one of the many homeowners who don't own a screwdriver?

Thank you for the comment. For now I prefer to schedule jobs out over weeks versus emergency stuff. I don’t like the idea of being on call all the time. I had enough of that in the military.

@@Handymanprocess that makes sense too. Glad to have your perspective on that.

Those guys at the $50 range need to up their price. You can't operate any business at those rates and be profitable. At least not profitable enough to make it worth doing. You're better off working a job for $25/hr with benefits at that point. Interesting though, nice work!

Agreed hopefully it opens their eyes to see the other numbers.

As far as licensing and insurace, what do you being this is a side job?

Thank you for the comment. I live in Texas and do not need a license for the jobs I do. I do have a $2M liability insurance policy.

They must be sitting around most of the weeks then, because the quotes I have heen seeing are obscenely expensive. $3000 to replace a tank water heater. He will have $700 in parts and will take an hour. Lets include travel time, that is still 1000/hour. I guess they only do two jobs oer week by these numbers...

Thank you for the comment. The average $/hr in this data is $103. Most handyman that I have talked to have no problem taking home this kind of money and are booked out for weeks.
