nilou is my favorite unit to wheelchair with xingqiu, yelan and kazuha. It's also comically rich to have a Nilou mono hydro on one side, and a Dehya mono pyro on the other. Just 2 wheelchair buddies racing to barely clearing under 3 minutes. Really puts some excitement back into the abyss

So I'm pretty much set, but sucks ima have to wait a bit 😭 update 2: got her at 81 pity. I did abyss and a bunch of side quests trying to rack up wishes, and even did the archon quest for it. Poetically, the last quest I did before I got my last wish was nilou's story quest.

One thing to mention is that Key has no limit on its HP to EM conversion. So overcapping on HP% (which basically requires Key right now, until there’s a F2P hp% sword) for her passive isn’t completely worthless.

From Keqing mains library section : "Bloom ICD Can Be Bypassed When Using Multiple Sources", so it's 2 damage per enemy/0.5sec but ALSO per character triggering blooms, in that case, isn't it better to share more the seeds between all the teammates ? (also , playing Yaoyao with Kokomi means you can not focus on healing stats that much, and Yaoyao random application is nice in that kind of team, that's the version i prefer, Nilou Kokomi Nahida Yaoyao)

I feel like hoyo is lacking on the kit side of things nowadays (granted if they aren't purposefully making a character weaker and locking their potential behind cons and weaps). I never realized the potential we missed out on like fridge teams and being able to bring a grouper (since I don't think we're getting a hydro or dendro grouper soon) up until zajef discussed it here. I know in beta testing people give the devs their insight but even then look at what happened to dehya, they just completely nerfed her to oblivion..

I do think Yaoyao made Nilou a lot more bearable for me (got her and Key during her debut banner), and gave some use for my Xingqiu by throwing in my would-be Thoma artifacts before sticking him to Diluc duty (fuck CW RNG); enough to allow me to clear the new Abyss Cycle at least before triple Kenki (I'm confident she can, but my Noelle deletes those 3 like butter). As for how it works....yeah, Nahida still tops it. While it's possible to argue that she's better now, the care for artifacts shifts when running a Nahida-less Nilou but ultimately it won't be far off from building other units or frankly, just building Hyperbloom and Burgeon triggers while building the personal DPS of your off-fielders (Thoma is a bit of an exception when it comes to his required stats, as his base scalings don't cover anything he needs be it for Burgeon or shield strength; but with Yaoyao and Baizhu coming this becomes somewhat moot, or if you're running Kokomi). The artifacts I made for my EM Xingqiu were tailored for Thoma so the 177% ER I had jumped to 212 with a Xiphos Moonlight R1 (which adds to the layers of improbability some might have). Depending on who you're running and how willing you are to run and pull for Nahida, Nilou's value will follow. Overall, Nahida-less Nilou has as much value as Shinobu and/or Thoma in terms of overall DPS and higher when you don't mind getting Nahida (ignoring the amount of build tailoring you'd do for the main on-fielder and Hydro triggers). Just note that her investment lies in primos (for characters) rather than typical resin and talents, the latter which while giving a lower floor for others also grants them a ceiling higher than Nilou's f2p options.

As someone who's been using different variations of Nilou teams and doesn't have Nahida I think you'd be surprised how many units you can just leave on their og builds w very slight tweaks if any. My yaoyao on er hp crit w fav. If I bring xq, sometimes I just swap weapon to iron sting. Kokomi not even on full EM, just pick either sands, goblet, or circlet to EM and use sacfrags The bit of less EM still translates to helpful to team healing for yaoyao, or personal hydro dps for xq, or healing and clam ticks for kokomi

@@crosssroads Alhaitham is full EM since he’s solo Dendro, and therefore likely the only one triggering Blooms. I run FoPL on him as well for that extra buff, and because his damage scales well off EM he’s doing non-negligible damage on his E ticks. Yelan is full damage, although I run her on Elegy for extra EM sharing for Alhaitham. Kokomi I run Deepwood on with Thrilling Tales to further buff Alhaitham, and Nilou is as much HP as possible to reach her cap of 74,444. My Alhaitham’s talents are 5,8,6 and it works well, but if you want to level his talents more go for it. His Burst is an integral part of his kit not for damage, but for his Dendro application. I use Xiphos’ Moonlight on him because it gives EM and ER to both him and the party, which negates his need to stack more ER to rotate his Burst properly. It’s a very fun team, I love using it. This Abyss though it’s not great for on first half before of the Cryo Herald, otherwise it’s great though. Definitely give it a try!

I don't mind that they've started going the niche route for character balancing as opposed to constantly making characters that work with a shit ton of teams. This to my eyes prevents characters from stepping and imposing on one another's roles and potentially powercreeping them and rendering previous or upcoming units completely irrelevant. If you were to constantly release Sucrose/Kazuha variants for example, eventually one of them is going to have such an overlap with another's kit that in 90% of scenarios it wouldn't be smart to use one of them anymore. One of the biggest issues Honkai had was new characters- DPS and supports constantly having to output better numbers than the last to sell. It's created an environment where virtually all of the units from years ago have no value to exist anymore. Nilou having such a unique interaction with bloom solidifies her as the AoE Bloom specialist and nothing more, so there wouldn't be a risk of her simply being better than another alternative in a non-bloom team.

Gotta wonder how a lot of current characters will evolve as we get new updates... Let's say we're all the way in Snezhnaya and we get an amazingly strong selection of cryo characters with versatile applications, maybe characters like Shenhe become less niche. Hell, maybe one of them will even crave a cryo infusion from Chong, people were saying that was gonna be Ayaka before they learned she has one by herself. Also gotta wonder to what extent miHoYo even intends to bring back older characters, I could even see it be the case that they lean all the way towards selling the newest stuff and simply being okay with it whenever weak stuff happens to get stronger, making players happier, especially with complicated stuff like Dendro. Also, you explained exactly why I have such intensely mixed feelings about Nilou's kit. I actually kinda even like the idea of an AoE setup that sacrifices grouping to be even stronger when it wouldn't work well anyway, but that would've still been the case with a well balanced gradual passive. Same with freeze, just give us utility/problem solving at the cost of some dmg potential, well... Don't artificially take it away, anyway. But, back to my initial point, at least a hydro or dendro grouper using waves, bubbles or vines etc. could patch it up, and those would be amazing... I got Nilou in the first go but getting Nahida now. I really wish I could use my Mona with the comp. I do love Barbara though and I hope the team works out well now that i'm gonna give it a real shot and finally a chance to make Barbara an on fielder. Its hard to find info on version that use Barbara though. Even when you ask specifically about Nilou and Barbara, people just talk about Kokomi.

I'd personally disagree on the pull value without Nahida. Nilou with Collei+DMC is pretty much a high pull value unit - especially considering the scale of damage is not purely based on artifacts but based more so on EM, Character levels and rotations. Pulling off the same DPS numbers with a general 5 star team is highly dependent on you getting good artifact rolls that could take weeks/months.

I mean getting useable artifacts doesn't take weeks/months, yeah you won't get godrolls but it's not hard to get decent ones. If you want to make a team with a 5 star Hydro and don't have Nahida I'd always get Tartag over Nilou. Nilou teams without Nahida is far worse than National. You'd also be better off getting Yelan as well. Yeah, you could get Nilou but a Nilou team without Nahida will just be worse than playing National with Childe or Hyperbloom with Ayato, both of which only needing one 5 star as well.

@@twigz3214 biggest cap lol. Cap 1: Getting decent artifacts for ADC takes weeks/months. Especially when you want 4pc set for multiple characters with ADC build like National. I remember farming 4pc CW for Hu Tao, and it takes weeks only to get 70/140 crit with DB (around 190CV). Cap 2: Nilou doesn't need Nahida for AoE content, she easily shred Triple Kenki with Collei, DMC and Barbara. You only need Nahida when you want Nilou to brute force ST content like Serpent, Wenut or Wolflord. Also comparing Nilou comps without Nahida with entire International with Childe+Kazuha are kinda... bruh. Your logic is awful lol.

@@lycerisrico8943 I feel like you’re exaggerating some of those points. 190 CV will definitely clear abyss. Getting a standard 65/130 on chars is assumed to take on average about a month, so you are right on that, but that’s generally pretty well invested. Also childe can use shimenawa and some other 2pc for his artifacts if resin efficiency matters. It takes a little while longer, but it’s a pretty bad take to say that it’s not worth using other teams if they need a couple weeks of more grinding. While nilou is probably the best aoe team, it’s ST “weakness” is pretty significant. I think that was the main point with the other guys comments. Teams that can handle both types of content efficiently are generally higher value. And you can use sucrose with international; kazuha isn’t necessary for the team.

I don't see how letting players play more teams is a downside for mihoyo. That just encourages players to spend more on more units. Instead, limiting units to specific teams like Nilou does only makes players spend less. After all, if you want to add/ change your Nilou team, then the new unit must meet the Limitation of either hydro or dendro first, which discourages sales

I mean I agree Zhongli would be generally uneeded, but it would have been far more fun to be able to add some pyro, electro, cyro, or anemo options to the mix. Could have gotten extra blooms off of electro charge, grouping and extra blooms from an anemo infusion, maybe a vape carry with some additional bountiful cores on the side, or even a fridge team that doesn't suck. I like her general kit design but the choice to limit it was just unneeded if the new team options were "too strong" they could have just lowered her numbers a bit or taken out a few bonuses from not going full hydro/dendro, not her whole kit.

@@castielysia people didn't like kokomi's passive either, but she gains healing bonus and allows her to ignore crit subs in exchange. You can think it's a lazy way to do balancing in nilou's case (which I agree, it is lazy), but I'm willing to let it slide because in exchange, hoyo gave her one of the most broken passive in the game (and kokomi nahida are two of my top favorite units)
