It’s not a school bus. It’s a transit city bus. Both are very different chassis and engines. Most school buses use smaller diesel engines and generally carry more passengers due to seats are closer gap. It’s not designed for comfort. It’s designed for local use. This is why sometimes schools rent charter buses for long trips.

The issue with onroad vehicles is effectively cooling the engine. In front engine situations like a truck or a front engined bus it is much more easier to fit high hp engine than in rear engine bus. Front engines have the advantage of forced cooling while read engine is totally dependent on how fast the radiator fan can pull air through the radiator. Also the size of radiator is limited. In hot climates it is very easy for rear engine buses to overheat in city driving. Like when volvo and scania first came to india many of their buses had catastrophic engine failure or just straight up catch on fire due to the hot climate averaging at 40c in sunmer and going up to 50c ambient in really hot days. Sweedish engineers had to investigate and after years they made changes in production to solve overheating by reducing engine hp and increasing radiator size and a lot more temperature sensors and automatic fire suppression system. But even then for city applications rear engined buses failed miserably. Rear engines can only be seen on highway going intercity buses where they have much more chance of having time to cool. Fpt has 400hp engine option at 9l size for onhighway application while they have 650hp for marrine application where cooling is almost unlimited and only limited by the effectiveness of heat exchanger and block design.
@RohanSanjith2 жыл бұрын
Even front engine buses overheat too, especially town buses, you can see those buses have front grill opened for cooling done by drivers
@cameroredrocket87682 жыл бұрын
thanks for the info, but the problem here was overtorque
@TheSilverShadow17 Жыл бұрын
Front engine vehicles aren't better than mid engine or rear engine ones for obvious reasons. Weight distribution is much better on the latter as you do not want excess amounts of mass on the front wheels when turning. Plus mid engine vehicles have more interior space and leg room which is an advantage in itself.

how much power would it take to crumple the frame at the start of the launch. how ridiculous would the drivetrain have to be to handle that force. please make a video on this
@blazbohinc49642 жыл бұрын
for D-series it's around 1500nm of torque. The chassis will bend driveshafts will break. Provided you have enough grip. Bus frame won't bend. Rear driving assembly just fails and falls apart. Frame never bends due to excessive power. I've tried

This only has a redline of 2200 rpm. Hp is a function of torque and rpm. But a huge engine like this has to be engineered to be able to rev higher without destroying itself. Thus, this would require significant internal work to rev any higher reliably.
