Very nice and informative video, thank you. The 60 buy-ins downswing sounds terrifying... Impressive win rate, congratulations!

Thank you for this video. It helped me understand that poker is a marathon and when swinging or being b/e you just have to play your game and be tough. Of course, this does not mean that you should stop educating yourself or analyzing your game. You have to give yourself time and accept the variance, without it you lose confidence, question your strategy every now and then and just go astray.

Hi LAG. I have to agree that a stoploss is a very good idea. For me when I get to minus 4 buy-ins in a session, that is what I use as my stoploss. Do you have any thoughts on a "stop-win" where you stop playing when you are up a certain amount in a session? If I am up 6 buy-ins for example, I don't want to lose what I have won, so sometimes I will sit out from the session then also.

Hello! I normally use a stop win strategy during a long downswing, when it Is more important to take home some win for the mindset. But it's ok to use It of you feel that kind of pressure.

I don't think there was a specific clicking moment! If I had to say one thing it probably was when I shifted my focus from "hitting hands" to "exploiting my opponents' leaks".

Hello! Been watching your channel for a while now, really amazing content. Thank you! May I ask, at 7:25 you show your earnings, Is that yearly or monthly? I'm just trying to get a graps of how much a poker player like yourself would earn yearly playing part-time as you would.

Thanks for this video I needed it, I became a pro 4 months ago and last month I had the best month in term of income (4k2€ with RB) playing on NL50 zoom, but since february 1st I'm running like complete shit, almost 30 buy-in down for the first time ever and I don't know if I'll make 1k with RB this month. It's pretty rough but I try to keep motivated

it is okay to play only 4 regular tables if after the fifth table you lose focus? or how many tables do you see as optimal
@LAGPoker
@LAGPoker Жыл бұрын
Hello and sorry for the late reply. The answer is as many as you can! You should grind the ones you can do with focus, but then try to increase gradually the number with time. I think 8 would be a good number for an online pro.

what it is mean ''all-in adj bb/100''? can you please explain that.
@LAGPoker
@LAGPoker Жыл бұрын
It simulates how my bb/100 would have been, if every time I got it in before the River the pot had been chopped based on my and villain's Equity. It basically removes part of the variance.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but assuming 30 hands is dealt live poker per hour.. then a good live player can play 7,300 hrs(220k hands) and break even?? That’s some insane variance..
@dreamdyyboi
@dreamdyyboi Жыл бұрын
Thats correct, but live poker is also x10 times softer, so your edge will be bigger and therefor the swings and "downswings" more infrequent and shorter because the skilo gaps are bigger (assuming you are a crushing player)

$/hr is a function of BB/100 and are inexorably linked. All of the things that you mentioned that effect bb/100 would also effect $/hr. $/hr is simply bb/100 + rb. I understand and agree with the sentiment, however if you understand what bb/100 is representing and why it is being used it can be useful when teaching or training with others as long as you are aware that it is only a piece of the puzzle (bc different people have different rb deals, thus the common denominator becomes bb/100). It can also get a little murky when you are playing different stake levels, but since databases are a thing it is easy to parse that information out as you did in this video. Literally everything you presented in this video could also be converted into bb/100.
@LAGPoker
@LAGPoker Жыл бұрын
the whole point of the bb/100 part of the video is: bb/100 are not the best tool to measure your skills at Poker, at least as long as we assume that the most skilled Poker player is the one who makes the most money at the end of the day - considering the same stake and possibilities obviously. In that terms, $/h is more relevant even if as much inaccurate in its measurement. As an example, in my opinion somebody who can fluently play up to 6 tables at 5bb/100 is better at Poker than somebody who cannot play more than 2 tables but keeps 10bb/100. More $/h is always better than less $/h, while more bb/100 is not necessarily better than less bb/100 from an overall profit perspective. That's why I think $/h is a way better measure for success in Poker. If you are running filters on your DB, bb/100 (or better ev bb/100) are obviously what you need to check.
@fenikstechnologies1173

I think you're taking him a bit too literally. BB/100 can obviously be a metric of success or not. However, like most stats in general, people put too much stock into it without proper context. Is your 10bb/100 one table or 6 tables (I'm sure you see where I'm going with that) And in the end, we are humans. Therefore the only thing we have to "trade" for money is our time. We can only process information so fast, and we only have so many waking hours to be productive. Therefore, you need to figure out what games, amount of tables, time of day, etc etc.....allows you to make the largest hourly rate. Very simple example, but "crushing" a game nowadays is 5bb+/100. But I'll take 0.5bb/100 @ a $200/400 game all day everyday.
