people who are still asking whether they can go from a 4 to a 6 or a 7 to a 9 are missing the point here. asking this question to a stranger on the internet who does not know anything about your work ethic, your home life etc. is pointless because they cannot calculate the factors in and give you an accurate response. but even then, the answer will always be yes, because you are infinitely capable of anything despite the factors that might play into your life. the problem here is that most people who ask this question have an underlying insecurity/belief they will not work hard enough to achieve their desired grade. if you have big goals (ex. jumping from a 5 to a 9) you have to have the confidence you can, you have to envision yourself doing the work and getting that 9 on your results day letter. you have to believe that you can actually do the work to get the grade. i was stuck at a 5 in french last year and when we did two mock papers for french this year, i got 8s in both. i believed in myself and had revised french beforehand, which alone pushed me 3 grades up. please, just have some faith in yourself. a little self-belief goes a long way in gsces.

More of a vent than anything! Honestly the stress and anxiety around this GCSE exam period is getting to me. Since year 10 I’ve told myself I hoped to feel confident and well prepared for my GCSEs and right now, with my Spanish speaking in like a week or two, i feel so far from secure in my knowledge. Most of this is because i feel like i should have started revising sooner although i have been for a couple weeks now. But also due to the fact my school sort of fucked me over with multiple bad teachers or having supplies for the entirety of year 11. And now there’s an overwhelming gap in my knowledge as well as a sense of doubt about whether my revision is even efficient? Or perhaps i’m overestimating how much I haven’t learnt, i can’t tell anymore. I’m just finding it hard maintaining the high grades i’ve had over the years or not feeling sure about how to push some of my 7s to 8s or 8s to 9s. And at the same time i have parental pressure and pressure from myself because i really need top end grades for medicine. Don’t expect that to be read, i just felt like blowing some steam off. Henry thank you again! Your videos have been a constant reminder of hope and have been pushing me to keep working hard. I’m very grateful.

Hey - your videos have really been amazing these last few months. I’m mainly predicted 9s except for about 3 subjects I’ve been predicted 8s in (some to be on the safe side). My main problem is I find it really hard to work and loose motivation/focus very easily (I have depression so i think that affects it). I also always try to sleep early but I end up going to bed between 1-3am every night. I have been doing light revision but am nervous - any any tips at all for staying focused, best things to focus on, how to get a better sleep schedule would help so much. I’m also extremely scared that in the exams I will freak out and forget everything and that grade boundaries will be insane (aka drama and Latin for me 😭). Good luck with your a levels !
@ChelsyLolaa9 ай бұрын
I would say, unless this really isn’t you, going to bed earlier and waking up earlier is helpful. I personally enjoy doing 2 hours of work from around 10-12 in the morning and then I relax alllll afternoon and socialise. I’ll eat my dinner and then do another 2 hours from 6-8! You don’t have to do this exactly or do 4 hours, but this is what works for me. It’s important to find something that works for you and that fits into your schedule. I find music really helps and I give my phone to a parent so I’m not too distracted! I also use a timer on my iPad so I can see how much revision time I’ve done and how much I have left to do. You can search for some online under ‘pomodoro timer’, ‘revision timer’ etc. Another tip is to have a schedule. I love knowing what to do and when otherwise I tend to revise the subjects I like. I also tick the slots off on my schedule once I have done them because there is a real sense of completion!! Some revision apps such as ‘Flora’ or ‘Study Bunny’ also help you see how much hard work you have done. I know this is long but I hope this helps you!! I’m in year 11 too and I wish you all the best. I’m sure you’ll do great. Try your best but don’t prioritise your health:)

hiya, thanks so much for your support! I will be doing videos over the next few weeks on mental health during exams, so keep an eye out for that for more detail. the advice you've been given here is really good :) we all have different experiences, but for me on days i felt bad and down, revision and working towards an end goal actually helped me. it allowed me to work towards my future and keep myself busy. for sleep, i put my phone away at 9:30 and don't look at any screens. instead, i wind down and do my skincare and then i try to read for an hour or so before bed. in terms of staying focused, i have done a video on procrastination - but m n1 advice is to make sure your phone is in another room when you revise. i had the exact same worries about my exams going badly - i was so sure i got a 7 in history but it turned out to be my best exam. i'm so sure you'll do really well! good luck and i hope that helps :)

My pure ultimate aim is to at least get into sixth form which require 7+ passes. My mocks haven't been the best, probably averaging about 5s. I'm wondering if it's possible to revise all content for all subjects and all of the papers in just under a month. Is it possible to do this and secure at least grade 6's and above. Honestly, an answer would really help me out.
