In Georgia, child support flows from the non-custodial parent to the primary custodian. If the parents share 50/50 custody, child support flows from the higher income earner to the lower income earner. Women are often the primary custodian and/or the lower income earner. So it may seem that child support is based on gender. But it is actually based on custody and income.
