People don’t get sick from magical Boogey germs. They get sick when they resolve something they’ve been upset about. Most people get sick AFTER their kids do because of the worry about the kids. Kids also get sick when they have parents that fight often and there is constant fear in the home.

Because I am a newbie in serious gardening, I keep track of all the plants that I buy by punching a hole in the top of the tag and threading a car key chain through the tags. I keep it with me every time I go shopping for plants and I know exactly what plants I have and I write on the tag with a sharpie to show how many plants I have of each of them. It is such a great way for me to keep track of the plants. For other items like potting soil, mulch, biotone, and other assorted additives, I take photos and add a note on each photo showing how many bags I have of each item and I adjust the number as I use them or buy more. That way my “senior citizen brain” doesn’t stress out because I can’t remember every single thing☺️☺️☺️

At 63 years of age, I certainly remember the TV shows that always seemed to show family bliss. You know, how everything is problem free, no arguing .... non reality stuff 🤣. I remember, as a little girl asking my Mom if those TV people didn't know each other very well, because they didn't act right 🤣. I do think spending lots of time outdoors being active and getting dirty really does help keep our immune systems healthy. I think the combination of good quality air, physical activity, sunlight exposure, and exposure to microbes in the soil can definitely only benefit us. I’m a professional CRM archaeologist and I think all the time I spend outdoors does wonders for my body and my mood. In fact, my coworkers know I need to get in my outside time to the point where they’ll tell me I should go find an outside project when I start to get a little surly.
@ptanyer

Such a great comment! I too feel antsy when I don’t get enough “outside” time with the sun and fresh air, my plants and the birds and deer that we feed. I have gotten so used to having a 1/2 hour each morning before I go to work to sit outside and just enjoy the peace and tranquility of my back yard. I try to get home each day to be outside for as long as I can which is getting shorter and shorter that now that sunrise is later and sunset is earlier. Nice to hear that someone else feels the same way about being outdoors😊

I'm British (Welsh) and can confirm we don't really heat/cool the Hartley style greenhouses in very extravagant ways, mainly because that style of construction is usually attached directly to the house itself if we are wanting a live in/luxury style greenhouse. They're so common here you can have every house in a street with one, the heating is added in as you would in a property extension and cooling here doesn't really need much more than shades built in. You don't often see Hartley style greenhouses as stand alone structures, and if you do, 9/10 they are working spaces that utilise crude heating and cooling methods fit for a good ol' garden building, and not very refined. The style of greenhouse that your Hartley is would not really be considered a greenhouse here, most people would refer to it as a conservatory, and as I said, it would likely be added as a property extension. The UK is so tiny and the percentage of our population with large gardens of several acres or above is even smaller - hence the reason they're usually tagged on to the house!

Hi Laura 👋 I'm pretty sure your fountain issue can be resolved by upgrading to a stronger pump. For the person with the spider problem. We had a similar issue in our shed. I went around the structure and filled any gaps around the windows with caulk. I used canned spray foam for larger gaps. I also added weather stripping around the door and a door sweep. This has cut down on a lot of the bugs. We have a few sticky traps in the corners behind the door that we change out every so often.

@@wonderwonder30 I’d take a look around your window and door trim and if you see any gaps, point them out to your landlord/building manager and ask if they can caulk them. If you’re on the ground level, check the outside trim on the windows too. You could also try the stick on door sweeps and stick on weather stripping around your door frame and window frames. It doesn’t last as long, but it’s removable so might be a good option if your landlord doesn’t help. Some bugs getting in is inevitable, but if you’re seeing a lot, take pictures to show your landlord. You could check with your county to see if they have any pest control requirements for landlords to adhere to if it’s a big problem …hoping it’s not that bad though :-)

Love that we started the video with Russell’s ears and tail, and ended the video with an appearance by Cheddar! I so enjoy every single video, especially the interaction between the two of you in these recaps. I have so many random notes about plants, sources for products, etc that I think I need to just dedicate a single journal (or perhaps a LARGE binder) to Garden Answer inspiration! Then every day, I can sit down with my coffee and my binder to record the latest tips, ideas and “must haves”. Looking forward to all of your fall & winter projects and of course, holiday lights & decor!

In asking about small windows in the flower shed had you thought about skylights? Nice to have lights and see the sky.
@agnesrodriguez258
@agnesrodriguez258 2 жыл бұрын
I think they are trying to keep the amount of natural light to a minimum so that they don't have to constantly adjust the camera. It's why photographers use those big light defusers to avoid shadows on the face. Small windows in the back create another problem called backlighting. You end up with a lot of light and the person is blacked out.

Aaron's comment about 100 acres with a small house. at 37:00 . I understand completely. The hard part is finding it with the push toward large homes on large properties. Keep looking....it's out there. Welcome to my World! It took us 7 years to find our "sanctuary" ! over 300 acres of undevelopable land behind us and over 20 acres of our own.....with a small one story home.....no kids ..... but over the years home to 15 dogs.... large dogs! HEAVEN.

I was looking for some plants this weekend and found some Coral Bells and I thought Laura plants these. They were on sale and I'm hoping I can get them in the ground asap. The garden nurseries in my neck of the woods have such beautiful fall bushes on display right now. I could have bought a truck load of them, but even though I have a good sized yard it is riddled with underground electric, cable, gas lines, etc. so I moved on. Sigh but I'm happy with the Coral Bells and finger crossed the deer won't like them. Love your videos.

I really enjoy watching all the autumn color the south garden is starting to look really pretty. The autumn color is going to look amazing in a few years. Hartley is a UK company and in the UK we are used to mild and wet seasons. I live on a small island between mainland UK and Ireland and we rarely heat or cool our greenhouses. We rarely have snow and do not get the high summer temperatures, probably something Hartley will have to look into for the American market.
