Hi Rachel, The danger with putting a video online is that you are always going to get people who agree with the steps you are taking and those who think you're completely in the wrong. I'm more the former and I think you have made fantastic progress in such a short time. Keep up the good work!

From the debt free side. I make 120K a year. I have a net worth 1.7 million. Small paid for house. No debt at all. no kids. Single. No one knows I am financially stable except my parents. I have money in mutual funds, high yield savings. Also 15% of my check goes to Roth. I am 41. I am going to retire at 51 (I am an RN). The key to my situation is 1. No debt EVER. 2. Living within my means. It is worth it to get debt free. It is freedom.

Completely AGREE with the you still have to live while on the journey. Tomorrow is not promised. I will not just sit around being miserable while working on what could be.

But also to clarify, you should still be sacrificing to reach your debt-free goals. Example, I work an extra job to pay off the debt but I put in my budget a small amount for date night to go to fun things with my partner.

Whoa you did a fantastic job in your Citi card! What a great feeling with having one debt paid in full. On to the next!! We did the lowest balance paid in full first and moved on to the next but we are your parents age. Our goal is to pay off the house by three years so we can retire then. I paid off my car and my husband paid off the pick up. One more vehicle to pay and the house and we just took on a mini split air conditioner cost, but that’ll be paid in full in May 2025. I wish we had the cash to pay for it but don’t. Our ac stopped working last year and husband doesn’t want to keep lifting in and out of the window every year these big bulky air conditioners so we needed to go this route. It’ll be installed and guaranteed for 12 years so it’s a wise investment and increases the value of our home.

Hey Reyler. Thanks for sharing your story. My debt is somewhere in between 80,000 and 125,000 if I include things that are written off as bad debt and will fall off in 7 years like everyone says. About 75,000 of that is student loans. My parents helped me a lot over the years too and they still do and I help them back a lot as well. I didn't pay for private school, I actually took out loans over multiple attempts at completing college, and finally finished this last time. Everybody has their own path and their own successes and burdens in this life so don't let anyone judge you. Take care of you and your family and honor the God you believe in and serve day by day cuz that's all any of us can do. Take care.

Hey there! Great job on the progress! I get what you mean wanting to pay off your debt sooner than 10 years, but I’d definitely keep exploring your options. With a lower balance on the federal student loan, it might not make a huge impact to get it forgiven after all those minimum payments, but it could help you save for other goals. Good luck! Looking forward to the future progress too 🙌🏼

Using rough numbers for easy math $11k/ 5 months is @$2200k per month. You msy be making more money than before but youre not making a huge amount more. Ypu should feel happy but mire importantly you should feel both proud and accomplished; sometimes accomplished is better than proud.

As i understand it, you can do a fair amount of the SAVE program application without committing. If so, consider doing so so that you are in the queue. There is currently a lot of push and pull related to student loan forgiveness. From media headlines and summary articles, it sounds like some who have recently paid off thier Federal loans are slated to get some money back. 120 payments is a long time and who knows what may happen between then and now.

I find that the people who enjoy talking down to others from up on their high horse are usually the most unhappy and messed up. That said, I found this video different from the others I watched. I liked your personality and vibe:) Seems the trolls have taken something away from you causing defensiveness and mistrust. Don't let them - life is hard enough as it is ❤

I was married at 19 and had my first child at 23, I couldnt imagine my mom or dad still having to help my husband and I pay my bills at your age. At some point you need to grow up and pay your own debt
@reylersjourney

Right…which I am. If I wasn’t making the progress I was making on the other debts I have, or still overspending in my budget and not working 60-80 hour work weeks and asking them to help pay a loan they are co-signed on-then yes that is immature and not “grown up” but that’s not what the case is. They are not enabling bad behavior. I’ve made a lot of progress to get on my feet and out of debt and not overspending or buying things I can’t afford and I am working multiple jobs throwing it all at my debt. I am not married, and while I split household bills with my partner, we are not a dual household income because we do not have joined finances. Your perspective is your perspective but honestly, I’m proud of the work I’ve been doing and I know my parents would agree😅

I’m so glad I stumbled on your videos! I admire your transparency- the internet is a scary place when you get vulnerable! Congrats on your progress- paying off debt is no joke. A couple questions… when you say “we” are you referring to a partner you have? Are you married? And have you started a retirement account? And what is your degree in? 🥰❤️🫶🏻
