A little more than £120 😅 most of my videos are around 40% now. Used to be less before I blocked a lot of the 'nice sharing' channels. Unsurprisingly with this video a lot of people skipped to the end. Yep, failures and bad news 😅 I guess years of hearing bad news on the TV and radio has got people hooked. Much appreciated Chris and I hope you're having a good start to the year!

@no_soy_rubio I wanted to get out on the hills, but the Peak District car parks are listing a couple as closed. Stu, The Peak District Viking (great channel) lives in Castleton. He says they have 4ins, and we are due for a deluge of snow again tonight. I would love to be up there hiking in it, but conversely, I don't want to be on next week's Mountain Rescue Team video 😂. Went to the flicks for my Birthday yesterday. We picked Nosferatu over Mohana or Paddington. Should have picked Paddington. Amanda has floated the idea of a van this year. Looks like we might be getting one. Fingers crossed. That's my 2025 plan anyway. I never thought about blocking those channels. If you block them, the subscriber count will go down, too, won't it? I'm only at 1.6k striving for my 4k watch hours so it can impact me if that's the case. But conversely, it will grow organically irregardless. If you get my drift.

@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling once you're over 1000 subscribers, it doesn't matter. I blocked about 50 channels, and yes my numbers went down, but then I got rid of people who would watch 2 seconds and leave a comment just to promote their own channel. This affects the algorithm because KZbin thinks if people are just clicking off your video straight away, it's not worth them promoting it. Ahhh it'd be nice if you could get out on a snowy walk! I heard Nosferatu wasn't very good, shame. A van is a great idea! Would be great to see you adventuring in that!

Well Matt I guessed about right but only cos I have some insight as to how much you roughly get per view. I'd say that's pretty good for your first year of monetisation. As you say it won't make you rich but it will certainly help pay for some of the travelling. KZbin can be a bit frustrating and I think most people with channels think about quitting. Also, for sure, your channel is still growing and I'd be very surprised if you don't make more than that this year. Happy New Year and all the best for 2025 👍Paul

The problem with the negative videos is that it's got me a bunch of subscribers who only want to see negative videos 😅 I usually leave the GoPro at home now when I go on a hike

Thanks for this breakdown, I plan on doing one of these after my first 12 months as well. I like what you mentioned at the end though. Even though we're making about 25c (or 25p) an hour, its the awesome adventures along the way that make it worth while. Hi Matt, this was absolutely fascinating! Thanks for sharing your stats with us. It's such a shame your Cuba videos didn't do better - we loved watching those. Hopefully, they'll pick up. We're at the stage you were at the beginning of 2024. We got a boost from another KZbinr doing a reaction video to one of ours and received a fair number of subscribers and views. Older videos are also starting to pick up and some are always in the top 5. Our most popular video of all time is "Norfolk Accent Challenge!! How To Speak Broad Norfolk!!" with 34,556 views! You gotta love the good old Norfolk people! 😂 This is followed closely behind by "American Easter Traditions Vs British Easter Traditions" (what??) and "Differences In Dating American and British Men". Two of our baked beans videos are always in the top 10! 😂 We need to do a why we left the UK video too! Good luck with becoming a YT sensation! 2025 your channel will explode! ❤💥

Lord Matt, sounds like you have to have a MENSA to do this....there are two guys in France on their own.. one hasn't moved from 6.5 ( he does spend most of it mowing his grass ..like watching paint dry) the other works on a château, odd jobs around his farm ( not a working one), rides on his bike, views to music, camping ( which he puts in clips in one go ) funny sense of irish humour and he has 57,000 since he started April 24...

in Italy taxes would far exceed any money one could make...unless one really makes viral videos on a consistent basis. As far as I know the minute one decides to monetize his channel he is considered a free lance and has to pay a fixed amount of money in taxes each month regardless of the amount he makes blogging....that's at least what I have gathered. Hopefully small amounts are tax free in the UK

In the UK you can earn up to £12.5k before paying tax, so I'm OK for this year 😉 as I'm out of the country for more than 6 months I don't even qualify as a resident so I don't think I'd have to pay at all, but I'll investigate it more if that day ever comes 😁

@no_soy_rubio it seems like here anything one does online is subject to taxation from day one because videos are online 24/7 so vlogging and blogging don't qualify as occasional sideline activities but ongoing ones. Occasional activities like network marketing only require paying taxes once you earn more than 5000€ but this is not the case with blogging....and the irony is that I know a guy who has a channel with 10000 subscribers who makes 3-4€ per video and has to pay 500€ each month in taxes....but he also runs another (better paying) business under the same VAT number 😉

I'm surprised I didn't think you would break a £1000. And surprised you don't get more views. Most of the videos are good! Others not. I think your thumbnails need to improve, the better quality thumbnail will always get the click. Most of your thumbnails are chaotic screenshot image from the video with you looking away from the camera, too much going on and I can't focus on anything interesting. Matt could do better! I feel like I'm writing a school report 😂 Good luck for 2025. After all that this Thumbnail is good very clear what's happening.😂
