In 2023, there are millions of bands and artists that are posting on the internet, on average 100,000 a day, the likelihood of having a hit or being discovered is something like 50,000,000 to 1. The music industry is generating "One-hit Wonders" a song may become successful for a week and the band will be forgotten before that week is over and never be heard of again. Also for a band or artist to exist in 2023, they need money, royalty rates are pretty much next to nothing, the general public expects free downloads and venues expect artists and bands to play for free to "Promote themselves" while the bar racks up big liquor sales. The separation of established bands, artists, and up&coming bands or artists is becoming a wider gap, the "old guard" is ensuring that the young upstarts can't cut into their revenue sources and the upstarts would be constantly stuck in that "up & coming" trap. Also the use of "Royalty Free Music" is a really scary concept, it means that composers and songwriters are expected to free give their copyrights away for small fee or in most cases for free. As much as I love songwriting and recording, I think I'm going to become an accountant or a computer programmer at least I can make money, have a house, car, and I can buy groceries. Breaking an artist or band in 2023 + is impossible!
