Keep in mind that the stiffness rating is only a general guide, and even off of based the weight of a young kid or young teenager. Older teenagers and adults may need a stiffer boot, simply because they weigh more, not so much of their skill level.
@LillyJones-je8yg Жыл бұрын
Edea skates are actually a bit different. They are designed so that you cannot overboot in them. The only person they are not good for is a beginner child because they will outgrow them really quickly so it's not worth investing. That being said, I am only on doubles and I wear ice fly's and they do not feel supportive enough. Thinking of switching to pianos.

@@sofiafigureskates ahh that makes sense. I love the edea boots, I think they are a fantastic choice when figure skating. @@sofiafigureskatesI’m a coach and my family owned a figure skating store. I personally wouldn’t have done this since Ice Fly’s are extremely stiff, but won’t last any longer because of this. They’re still going to break down in the same amount of time (I’m in my second pair of Ice Fly’s and they’ve still broken down in about a year due to my duration and frequency of skating); they’re just going to cause more harm to the skater since they aren’t doing the level of skills required to break them in. You’re risking stress fractures and injury by getting too stiff of a boot for your level, and it’s not going to solve the issue of buying skates frequently :/ unfortunately this sport is incredibly expensive and there’s not a way around that problem. You should just get boots and blades that are for your level or one level up, depending on the skater; if you’re going to get anything that’s high for your level, it’s better to do it with blades since you don’t risk injury or stunting your progress and skating ability as much

Various coaches put skaters in different skates and blades, I skate under a coach who has sent kids to compete on team USA, so here is my opinion based off of my knowledge and experience ( I skate in the higher levels)…I don’t recommend Edea boots for beginners, Nither do I recommend coronation ace blades. Edea ice fly boots are for landing doubles and intermediate jumps, most people in the senior lever wear them, you should be using the Jackson elle boot or something with a softer tongue and with a lower heel. Coronation ace blades are also for higher level jumps, like your axel and basic doubles. the way the toe pick is shaped is for jumping with more power, you might actually find that your skating will improve if you use a blade with a slightly less aggressive toe pick, those blades are also a tad too long for beginners.

Y’all edea ice flys are for ppl who are doing multiple-rotation jumps or you’re on an advanced level as the ankle support and weight is perfect for doubles,triples,etc.

To everyone looking at this video and thinking “I will never be able to afford that” just know that you don’t need $900 skates to skate well. There are more affordable options you can choose from that are for your skill level and some you can even use for doubles. These skates are really for those doing triple jumps and above. Yes they look cute but you don’t “need” them. ❤

Please, those skates are meant for everyone but beginners, there’s a reason pro and high competitive skaters wear them, they are not advised unless you at least jump doubles flip/lutz…
