We call the soft guards soakers because when you finish drying your skates they are obviously still a little bit wet and cold and the soakers soak up all of the moisture left on the blade. ❤

In todays times it is very rare to find a young man like Will, who so clearly loves you. He is so attentive to you and your needs and wants. Lauren you need to keep this one . The two of you are very obviously made for each other. Keep in mind that I am a 74 year old grandmother of a granddaughter who is your age. I hope that she finds a gentleman like Will to take care of her like every young woman wants to be taken care of. Please pass this on to him as men like him are RARE to find and his mother should be so very proud of him ❤

While your comment is kind and very sweet with nice intentions, it undermines how much of a “catch” Lauren is. I think it’s “just as rare” to find a young girl like Lauren who is committed and passionate about her job, is financially independent, doesn’t post provocative pictures, discuss adult or sexual topics, or entertain other men. Loving and attentive people are out there and can easily be found by not settling for less and by making expectations known upfront. I think women struggle and settle for less than they deserve due to societal pressures or having a “time-clock”. Ultimately, they miss out on all of the great men out there due to similar reasons. Anyways, I’m a silent watcher and hope anyone that reads this knows you can find a love like theirs. Respect yourself and you’ll find an equal. I’m wishing wellness to your granddaughter, Lauren & Will, and all others. ☺️

I remember buying my freestyles as my first figure skates I was so happy! Tip for jackson boots, while breaking them in you may need to leave the top hook unlaced to allow for more bend. Also when lacing around the hooks, go on TOP of the hook and around the bottom, this will allow the hooks to hold the lace tightness instead of just directing the lace. Enjoy, you look great out there.

You have really good posture you're gonna get far in figure skating. A million repetitions makes one feel less anxious on the ice cause it becomes muscle memory. Accepting that you're gonna fall and just embracing the pain beforehand makes you less scared of falling. And the more exhausted you get from training for 2-4 hours the more brave you will feel on the ice. Thats probably not healthy but physical exhaustion takes away anxiety for real. I get so tired and depressed that Im not getting something right that I dont care if Im hurting myself on the ice. I hope you are kinder to yourself.

For just starting, you are picking it up so fast and doing great (I skated from when I was 9 yrs old to 18 yrs old)!!! For your spins, make sure you have all your pressure in the ball of your foot and swizzles, your posture is awesome but make sure you don't go too much further than hip width apart because it will be hard to come back together and bend those knees to gain power! I'm so excited for your journey and hope you post more about it!!!

Figure skater for 20 years and coach here - don’t forget to put your hard guards on as soon as you get off the ice or it kind of defeats the point. Also, I wouldn’t tuck the leggings into the boot, put them over! Lastly, work towards tying the top section of the skate looser. You should leave 2 fingers of space. It’ll be an adjustment but ultimately will allow you to have more ankle bend and progress into harder skills. Happy skating ⛸️

When I wanted to get off the subway from times square on my first day of my NYC vacation, I also saw a really unpleasant picture right on the platform. So I can understand the nervousness. But since I come from a big city myself and ride the subway every day, there's hardly anything I haven't seen by now. You get used to it. Funnily enough, I'm more afraid of taking an Uber or a taxi because then I'm alone and trapped in a car with a stranger. That's why I would always prefer public transportation.

You fell for the savings on second hand skates lol. I went to the same shop and met with Joe and he got me fitted. Thankfully I never wore the used one because I didn't realize you needed to size down so the skates were too big. I love my skates. They were a good price but definitely pricey. But am not complaining since this pair will be the cheapest one I get. When I get to the freestyle classes I'll definitely need to upgrade since Joe said my Jackson Elle are only good for waltz jumps at the most.
