The noise is from the SBC pump which is part of the ABS system. It was only in the first generation of the W211 models. The face lifted model had a different system without this pump as people didn't like the pump intrusion

Vindis Bedford are actually really good, I took my Dads Golf TDI for a cambelt/waterpump and they were cheaper than 3 local specialists . they paid for my taxi home after dropping the car off, paid for the taxi to collect me when it was done, the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful! In case anybody asks I'm not employed by them lol....

It was 2 years ago and can't remember what I paid but that sounds like a good price to me, whats the name of your garage ? As I'll make a note of it if I need anything doing in the future.

I’ve found that too. People write off main dealerships too quickly without taking a further look. Also, and most won’t care about this, but it’s nice going somewhere clean and have nice polite staff who look after you. Having a video of your car being serviced and the tech explaining what’s needed and what’s done is awesome too.

That sound is the SBC pump pressurizing. These cars don't have brake servo's to multiply brake pressure they have pump's that generate immense modulated pressure so your brakes work and work well.

Years ago I had a k reg Renault 19 16v, and it used to make exactly the same noise as your merc estate and in the same way, it was the ABS pump just doing its thing.

That noise on an ML is the 2nd coolant pump - the bearings wear out - easy change - I think the engines are the same - mine did that noise as well - top video bro !!

Top tip fill your washer bottle before the car goes for its service. But VW still try to bill you for this, complain to service reception that what else are you being ripped off for.

Main dealer do rip you I think they charge around 112 pound a hour. I needed pads and disc changing that I already had and they wanted 340pound and I needed a MOT too so the best part of 400 pound. I then found a place at Mansfield call R&M vw specialist and they fitted my pads and discs with a MOT for 184. The guy there was amazing and so friendly with so much knowledge. It is nice to have the main dearer stamp but you definitely pay for it,nice video mate and I spend more time watching them then driving my R 👌

I left my Octavia VRS into the main dealer near me, a few weeks ago to do a routine service. Booked in and went for a coffee. Now, I was supplying the oil, filter, sump plug. The service agent called me and said its going to be £95 plus vat just to change the oil. What a piss take. I took the car away again and did the service myself a few days later at home. Changing the oil is so easy, charging £100 for it is scandalous. I bought the parts at the same dealer a few weeks before and the parts guy tried to sell me a metal bolt sump plug for my car, which has an EA 888 engine with plastic sump. I had to tell him it was the wrong plug. Not confidence inspiring at all. Still I suppose it was decent of the service agent to phone me and warn me about the price of the oil change. Sam in the video is smokin' hot, liked the way you got a shot of her legs for us. Good camera skills. 🤣

Haven’t read all the comments but the noise in the E class is the SBC pump, as I’ve got a 270 CDI for last 11 years. It’s supposed to do that as it’s electronic breaking :)

Pre facelift E’s have what’s called SBC braking system. It’s really complicated and known for going wrong. I have an old E500 it does the same vibration, very normal for these cars, nothing to worry about.....until it breaks. 😉

That "noise" you're referring to is the SBC breaking system, and its completely normal to hear it when you start it and drive around normally nothing is wrong with it. Its basically an electronically controlled hydraulic pump breaking system just google mercedes SBC if you want to know more about it.

That humming sound from merc is the Sbc system (Sensotronic brake control). It’s telling u it’s working.

A £200 pound service at VW is known as a minor service , they literally change the oil and thats it , such a rip off a full service is around £400

I’ve dealt with Audi, Honda and two BMW dealerships and they’ve all been really good. The customer service was overwhelmingly good actually. The Audi and BMW dealers had like flirty models working there! Haha. I always check main dealers for service offers, especially with older cars. Honda MOT’d my car, fully serviced it and did a full inspection and wash for £150. Because I was in the waiting area for two hours longer than they’d said they charged me £120. Sometimes it’s better to just give the dodgy indies a miss. I have one good local independent garage but they’re always super busy.
