These comments are comical. People don't become flight attendants for the money. Yes you want to make a decent wage and this isn't bad at all. However most love to travel, the fast paced lifestyle, people, and don't want a traditional 9-5. Many leave high paying jobs that are stressful and making them miserable to become a FA...exactly what I'm hoping to do. Not understanding why people are acting so shocked. Everything isn't for everybody.

I think the missing peace here is that. This is 80hrs a month. That’s literally half of what most people work traditionally. So if you’re gonna be home 4 days/wk and you know your schedule ahead of time which they do, you can easily get a 2nd job because you have the time. I think it’s great money even as a 1st year.

doesn't the pay also get renegotiated every year or every few years to adjust with the cost of living in these major cities? does that mean that even if you're topped out you still get a pay increase with the renegotiations or does it only affect the starting pay?

Also depends what airlines you work for United pays $27 and Delta starts at $30. Every year a $3.33 raise a year for 12 years comes out to $67. You get hotel discounts, pending on the airlines you could get a pension, your parents fly free you fly free and you get stand by tickets.

@@AFJ_ Also depends where you get stationed. Just like how in the video he says you get the 77 hours guaranteed then you if you fly more you get more. Just remember to save up cause you will be living off $2500 to $3000 a month in a major city for the first few years.

The legacies airlines do pay a bit more then 23.95 so the pay isn't bad especially if you pick up overtime (extra trips). People saying this isn't much it really depends on the airline you chose to work for, the amount of hours you actually work and how long you've been with the company. You can make really good money.
@TuBella14

Brandon Jackson thank you for throwing in a bit of hope. This video nearly gave me a heart attack. I completed my VI interview today, I don’t want to go into this field if this would be the pay. @@TuBella14 Yeah, every persons story and financial situation is different. I recommend really reading an airlines contract when it comes to pay breakdown. A lot of people don't know this but airline contracts are available online. Joining the flight attendant career connection is also great. You only make good money if you work for an international airline. When I flew for Singapore Airlines I would bring in anywhere between 4k-5k SGD. which is about 4K USD a month. Granted i was a lead crew (2nd rank). Our jr crew make good money too. I think they average between 2-3k a month.

Pretty accurate...simple and understandable 10 minutes explanation for those non flight attendants. For those who still lost on guarantee monthly hours, we still get chunk of days off (5 here, 4 there or 3 there) where you’re free to pick extra trip which goes over your guarantee, or you can just relax at home....at the end of the day, money wise, it is a flexible job and you can make as much as you want depending on how much you want to work. THIS IS NOT A REGULAR JOB base pay...THIS IS A LIFESTYLE 😉

that's why it's not a realistic job for most. i feel like it works well for young and single people but once they have children a lot of them likely change careers. maybe an easier career for guys than girls bc as a girl i can't imagine having a baby and being gone 12-15 days out of the month. even if i had lots of seniority by that point and better pay to where i could afford a nanny while im gone i still can't imagine leaving my baby for that long. plus the cost of a nanny would eat up the better pay at that point and likely leave me making starting flight attendant pay so it wouldn't be worth it. no way im leaving my baby for several days out of the month and paying for a nanny just to be left with little pay that i could make working any other basic job and not have to leave my child for half the month. and im also not putting that burden on family either. even if my parents wanted to take care of my child while im gone, i feel 12-15 days a month is just too much to ask anyone to do for free especially elderly grandparents and really not good for the child either

Once you get your seniority you'll be living good. There's tons of perks your parents fly free you get to pick a friend or 2 to fly free you also get 12 tickets to give to friends a year. I couldn’t imagine doing all that travel and work and only taking home 2k for the month. 😟... but i guess if you still live at home and aren’t paying rent you could save up and accumulate a lot. But if you’re paying a high rent or mortgage no way can you survive on that.

This is very good pay for employment as a flight attendant. I've seen several videos & have also heard from some flight attendants who believe that they are not well paid simply because they feel that they are worth more...well most of us believe that of ourselves whether it be legit or not. If $2300.00 a month is average pay in the industry, that's good money. I believe that many flight attendants have an over inflated ego as to their importance on the aircraft, & while they may add some additional feeling of security just by their presence to the flying public, their 'skills', unlike the pilots operating the aircraft, are not 'really specialty skills, in my humble opinion. I don't mean to offend anyone by making that observation but what I am basically saying is that if a flight attendant became incapable of performing their duty during flight, for whatever reason, 95% of the present passengers would easily be capable of fulfilling those same duties with minimal training. At the same time if a pilot were to become incapable of performing their duty, you may, if lucky, be able to find 1 individual aboard the flight who would be capable of jumping into that flight seat while the other 99% would be useless. So for all the flight attendants who seem to complain endlessly about their pay rate & their dissatisfaction with their job rather than to be grateful & thankful, I think that it's time to re-evaluate yourself & your perceived importance on the aircraft or perhaps it's just time to reinvent yourselves into a different career.

I see where you're going but imma have to disagree with you on the part of anyone doing our job. If that was the case we wouldn't be in training for up 3 months stressing to have that 90% average. Also I don't think it has anything to do with ego's, because many people come from different walks of life, and some just may be taking that pay cut to do something that they love in life. Although the boys/girls up front have a bigger duty of flying. Your FA is there for more than just that coke 😁

I didn't mean to imply that your job is not purposeful, meaningful or without some measure of special training, but $3.000.00 a month for what flight attendants do is very good compensation considering many pilots are paid under 60 grand & have to take on additional employment 'on the side' to make ends meet & their training & importance aboard the aircraft far out weighs that of the flight attendant.

It doesn't make sense to compare flight attendants to anyone else on the plane, not even to pilots. They all work vastly different schedules and tasks, it doesn't mean one is easier than the other. Pilots have auto pilot and don't even have to deal with 100s of passangers face to face, so you could argue a pilot's job is easy and they're paid plenty.

I have 3 family members who are pilots & they have vastly different schedules & routs that they must fly & so in that respect a flight attendant's changing shifts are no more burdensome than that of the pilots. I look at pilots & flight attendants in terms of doctors & hospital orderlies. 95% of people you meet in a hospital, or even out on the street for that matter, can fulfill the duties of an orderly with minimal training while 99% could not fulfill the duties of a doctor. When I fly it is very nice & even somewhat comforting to see flight attendants on board the aircraft, but if necessary I could do without them as there is really nothing that they do that I am not capable of doing for myself. As for the pilots, well those individuals are 100% necessary or the plane just sits on the ground like a huge paperweight. As I said previously, my intention is not to offend any flight attendant or be dismissive of their abilities & expertise, but for the duties that they perform on the aircraft, which tends to only require 3-5 months of training, they, in my humble opinion, are very well compensated.

derek upshaw of course in terms of importance Pilots fly the plane as a doctor would be the one to do the surgeries or diagnose a disease, however that doesn’t take away the fact that it’s the nurses that really run the operation of that hospital which makes the doctors jobs a lot easier given they only sit with a patient briefly, write a prescription then bounce, its the nurse that actually interacts with the patients 90% of that visit and they do the hands on job that the doctors don’t want to do, my point in this hospital breakdown is really it’s a full operation and no job is less important, if one part is not there it all falls apart. Without FA there would be no order on the plane. For the amount of hours they travel and have to be on their feet IMO 2k a month (and that’s only if you get a good airline) is peanuts compared to normal 9-5 jobs where you make 20+ an hour.
