How much do I have to study to pass the bar exam?

This guy is 100% right. I passed with a 318 on the UBE and did not study anywhere near 500-600 hours according to a time counter but I did hundreds of practice questions (I don't remember if I got to 2000 but it was pretty close) and multiple timed essays from every testable subject. That's the important thing. I did not use Studicata beyond the free content but I always told myself that if, somehow I failed, this would be the program to use. It's not enough to just DO practice essays and questions. You have to understand why you came to the conclusions you did and why they are wrong (if you were wrong) and how to fix them, too. Sometimes the most effective study sessions are the ones where you spend over an hour reviewing like 10 MBE practice questions. Furthermore, you should take the extra time and understand why the questions you got right were correct, as well. Exactly why they were correct. Don't be content with just lucky guesses. The bar exam is as much a test of mental endurance as it is knowledge and memorization. The test takes everything out of you in those two days. So you need to make sure you are consistently answering questions accurately in less than 2 minutes each. That way, when you get to the MBE, your instincts will take over and you will be able to survive. But the only way to develop those instincts is to actually practice. Can't run the marathon if you haven't even done the 5k.

Hi there, my son just failed the Ca bar July 2018 , he got 1363 on the scaled mbe ,and 65 ,60.60,70.50 on essays,60 on the pt , for a total score of 1377.9003. I understand this is a difficult question ,but how far would you say he came from passing? thanks

You can study the subject matter covered (use the bar prep stuff for those). Also, remember to write your essays as if writing to a jury who will know nothing about the case that you don't tell them.

@@LillithLeonard Yeah, the key for me was the professor (finally) telling me to write an essay as though you are explaining each element of a rule to a jury of ordinary folks. As they say, 'a lawyer is really a teacher.'
