YES! I especially love you addressing the “not worth it” it is SO worth it. Worth it to you, your little boy, and worth it for me to see too. You bring us joy and inspiration. Hand me a broom and give me 30 seconds to knock off the webs. 😂 Someone that lives near me actually has the gall to make snarky remarks right to me “still planting?” “At it still?” Yes and yes. Grumpy anonymous is having a meeting tonight. 😂

Your professional approach and impeccable taste , the way you deliver the information, your creative ideas, personality, your beautiful family, the parent’s garden centre, the cats... I can go on.. it all creates the atmosphere of wonderland around you. Every video gives me the vibe of soft , calming energy, the feel of the balance, beauty and harmony along with very helpful tips and inspirational ideas. And I know from experience what a hard work is behind of what we see on the screen... Thank you Laura and Aaron and way to go! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 P.S. I think most people understand that your in a unique position. You have a good portion of land, your job is to garden and do projects, your parents own a local nursery, and all your water and irrigation comes from a well so your not paying city prices to irrigate your large yard. Not to mention plant companies sponsor you and send plants (and maybe money). Don’t feel bad Laura and Aaron!

My Grandmother made my parents an acorn wreath about 30 plus years ago and it still looks beautiful. They hang it in the fall & for Christmas then store it in a box with tissue paper & store it in an indoor closet. So if you have an acorn tree (like my Grand mother did) you can try another type nut...even an almond nut if you are in California they may be cheaper then buying walnut. She also made them a very large pine cone wreath around that same time frame. Look around your area to find natural material for free..even if you have to ask your neighbors for their tree material. This time of year most grocery stores sell whole nuts with shell for decoration/eating usually at a good price. Check walmart to see if you can do a combination of nuts = would look just as beautiful if not more to have a combination of nuts on a wreath. I think also, putting a beautiful say silk type ribbon for fall, then change it for Christmas, then put a different color on for January...you can really get your moneys worth out of one wreath for a few months of the year. If you cant afford a large wreath of material then start with a small wreath this year and then next do the same and then you can tie them together with pretty ribbon (with space in between them) and put two or three small wreaths hanging down with the beautiful ribbon tying them together. I have seen that in magazine at christmas time & it really does make a beautiful statement that is “different” then just one large wreath on a door. 🍁🍂🍁

I DO know how much I spend on my gardens because I keep amazing records, including what succeeds, what fails, etc. BUT... you are right about investing in a hobby we love, and gardening is so therapeutic. When I retired 6 years ago we sold our RV and decided to let me indulge myself in gardening instead of being on the road so much. I used to sit at campsites and fantasize about how I would design the vegetation for them! Staying home and gardening has been so beneficial, and we consider it an investment in the beauty of our 'golden years'! The intense research and learning, about plants AND design, is keeping my mind busy. SO: Relax and Keep on Gardening! We love that you share your gardens with us.

Hello Laura and Aaron. I live in Minnesota and have been watching your videos since before you bought that house. I have learned so much from you over the years, and I always look for proven winners plants. I have 3 daughters that own business'and homes. I do all the planting and maintance for their shops and homes. This spring they dragged me to walmart to pick out plants. Such dismal pickings the girls were so disappointed and I knew they would be before we even got there. I took them to our 2 garden centers, had them each grab a trolley and we went through the greenhouses. Oh the fun we had. Each of them has their own taste that's for sure. We took our time and they all chose some very nice plants. At both places I was offered a job on the spot due to my knowledge of plants and what pair well together with similar water needs. Some from my own large garden and a lot from watching your videos. So thank you for that. ps I did not take a job. One lady and my daughter asked me why not and my answer was...my garden and my kids gardens and containers are fun for me, I don't want it to be work, she just smiled! One day you will be doing the same for your son.

About the cost question: people should not wonder because you are doing it proffesionaly and as a teacher. You offer just everything, so to cover any possible interest of the audience. Similary to what I do as a piano teacher. I buy all exam books, all the literature and so on, to cover all possible interests of students. Each student gets just a few things that they need. So the difference in cost from a proffesional person to a hobby person is incomparable. It is as you say- all life income goes back to the proffesion.

You have also encouraged me to do more containers which I love! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your lovely family!

I really enjoy learning how to take care of plants, its still relatively new for me, saved up and bought a house just a year and half ago- Everything has been a steep learning curve! There are so many things I took for granted just being able to go- "Hmm, that's broken- better call the landlord!" And never working outside except on the few potted plants I kept on my patio. Already I've dug out beds, got a couple raised veggie beds, and now with a new fence in place I'm in the midst of planting and arranging real lush garden landscapes and mulching and stone edging- a Lot of projects going on, and its fun. You just get out there, do some work, make an improvement, and you feel satisfied. Love your channel, you have such a fun upbeat personality- you would do great on television, I really think I could see you on that home improvement channel! What I love most is how you take the time to explain everything, how far back you're pruning and Why, how much watering and drainage a plant needs, and all the aesthetic pairing plants, forming boundaries and landscapes, really great stuff. :)

Glad to see you today. I am blessed to watch your show (caryopteris, which made babies by the way., and a few others I have a hard time finding specific products in our area. I have followed some of your planting recipes and they are working great. Ive tried my hand at making cuttings this year from plants I had. I have almost 2 acres most of its flowers and shrubs. Im a clearance rack plant gal and a thrifter for hardscape products as well. You have given me so much inpiration. thank you. Since I have have moved here in the last 3 yrs folks drive by slow to look at the flowers, I have elderly who drive their golfcart around to see the yard. You have helped me so much.

I love your videos! Even though we have 145 acres I can only do a few projects. I’m 73 and also have 12 horses. Since watching you I have pretty much switched to containers. Much easier on my back!

Laura I love every video you do! I have a request. Please show us how your cottage garden turned out when it grew in. I am planning on following your 'blueprint' for my own but would like to know what it looks like when the plants are more mature and grown in. Thanks.

Love the recaps!! They are a great addition!!!! I am going to try making a walnut wreath - I need to replace a worn wreath! Today I spent most of cleaning up & bringing in my tender plants! We are supposed to have a freeze this weekend! Great tips & reminders in the Monday recaps!! 😃🍁🍂🌻🌹🌱🌿🌲🌳🌾💚🌿

Watched this today. (Sometimes I miss one) You mentioned your walnut wreath.... I absolutely LOVE that wreath!! When I watched you glue it all together, I was very inspired! I got some walnuts, and I started DRILLING a hole on the top on each side. Slipped a wire through, and twisted it. I am still working on it. Will be for a while, as, I will run out of nuts before it's done!! I hope it looks half as good as yours!! My front door is dark (Pumkin) orange, and cannot wait to see it finished!! Thanks for the inspiration !!! I watch you just about every day! Love you guys !!!!

If you love the walnut wreath but are scared of squirrels, dab some peppermint or lavender essential oil onto the walnuts. As they heat in the sun, the fragrance will warm and get stronger, repelling rodents when they are most active. I do this on my pumpkins every year after washing them down with cleaning vinegar and windex. Nothing bites my pumpkins or gourds.

I love all your videos, and it makes me so happy to see you,AAron and Benjamin doing and Enjoying all this.I'm 81 now and dh is 82 and we both still love to garden and do all the work ourselves except for mowing the lawn. All our neighbors love to see what's blooming in the yard or in the bay window which is filled with orchids and african violets. We're always being told we have the nicest yard in the neighborhood. We also get the comments that it is too much work which i always reply,"if you love what you do,it isn't work". Keep showing us what you all do and encouraging us all,we love you,and enjoy your you tube videos. Thanks so much for all you and aaron do for the community as well.

I agree with how's it growing, it is so worth it. Love your videos, I'm learning so much from them. Between your videos and my ever growing collection of gardening books I'm having a ball. I'm one of the people that made a comment on squirrels due to an incident that happened when I was in my 20's. My father was working in Kentucky on a power plant and one of the guys on the jobsite sent us a huge box of grade A pecans. We had to store it in the garage and the squirrels thought they were in heaven, in a few weeks there were shells all over the place and a lot of fat squirrels.

Your videos let me dream of the future of having a lush & lavish garden/yard of my own some day! I learn so much by watching you. By far, I do think that the most time consuming & expensive part of getting the garden you love, is the tree removal process. Once the dead & diseased trees are gone...then the real work can begin!
