Frogs and geckos living together is fine if there is enough room and they dont eat/harm eachother. They also need to have similar enough care (like similar temp and humitiy requirements.) Im not sure about day geckos and frogs, just cos ive never seen them, but i know that mourning geckos and dart frogs can be kept together in a paludarium, because neither of them are predatory to eachother! Just makes sure theres enough food to go around :) Hope this helps!

I wanna thank you for your channel, I got my crestie about 3 months ago and your channel was honestly a big help to me. I got my gecko from the shop I work at (yes I know) I think he was about 4 months when I got him maybe older, he was a juvenile, had been there for a month or 2 already and just seemed lethargic and skinny... then I went to handle him cause it was quiet and I kind of like having an idea of my stores reptiles temperament, and he just came to life, jumping across my hands (which I didnt know they did) and took him home a few weeks later. It's been years since I had a reptile and it's been a wonderful experience.i got my crickets set up for breeding, even got some springtails with them since I keep my crickets on substrate, and I really learned about bioactive set ups mostly from you and it's really just relaxing to watch your more casual videos. I was quite glad when you did your coconut substrate review cause it's what I had her on before going bioactive, however I still have some of it mixed in. Thank you for your videos, even with several weeks of research I like coming to your videos. My cresteds name is Cinder, she is a tricolor harlequin with dalmatian and partial pinstripe. I dont know her gender yet but she has indeed doubled in size since I first got her. Sorry about the long rant X3

Love your channel, it is what convinced me to get a leopard gecko in the first place and every time I watch your amazing interactions with your lizards and your truly spectacular setups it inspires me to add a little something to my own gecko's setup, and now that you've done the bioactive setup that's something I'm looking into! keep it up, you're an amazing lizard owner and an incredibly helpful person :)

I’ve got some amphibians, and in general cohabitation of different species is a big no-no. Definitely not with tree frogs/day geckos, however some people keep dart frogs and mourning geckos with success. As for taking delicate animals to the vet, I find it’s easier if you interact with them more. Not for handling doesn’t necessarily mean just display; hand feeding, teaching tricks, etc. will definitely establish a connection and your animal will be much better when it does go to the vet. I’ve taken my little African Dwarf frog to the vet where he’s even been taken out and weighed, he’s been given medication, he’s had a skin test, and he was wonderful. I think I was more stressed than he was. So amphibians and day geckos can be just as rewarding as any other pet, and can definitely go to an experienced vet without any more stress than a crestie, as long as you take the time to interact with them.
@leopardgeckotalk4 жыл бұрын
Ah that's a great insight, thanks :) In some shops I do wonder if they just couldn't get hold of the day gecko, so they just pop frogs in there, like a lot of the time they don't even have a label/price for day geckos lol.

Usually sphaerodactylid geckos are kept with dart frogs. This cohabitation is fine, since the geckos are tiny and the frogs are tiny too. The frogs will feed mostly at the bottom of the vivarium, and the geckos near the top. As long as the sizes are similar it should be ok. IDK about day geckos and frogs, since they wouldnt even encounter each other in the wild. Cool thing is, the sphaerodactylid geckos (most sphaerodactylids are extremely colourful, like rainbowy, and extremely tiny) although its mostly mourning geckos cohabited with the dart frogs.

I picked my gecko's name because it's one of those names that could be short for a male or female name, and I just really liked both of the names it could be short for. Not named after anyone in particular. But if I were to get another pet, I'd probably give them a name that has to do with tech. Java, Django, Ruby, Bean, and Sudo come to mind off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's a million more. Man, I'm such a nerd.

If you go on holiday via road trip and plan on taking your reptile with you, use a uniheat pack. These are designed for travelling reptiles. Don't use an AC/DC car converter as they may short circuit your thermostat which is not good when your on the road.

Hi Rebecca, glad to here You, your family and your babies are all fit and well. Wow I can't believe you have had Drogo 3 years! If you see this comment can you let me know do your males go off food when the females are "in season". All four of my geckos seem to be making googoo eyes at each other CONSTANTLY! The males just want to get into the females tanks and vice versa. Rumpypumpy has taken over not even a waxworm is accepted lol (Leopold my male Leo was obsessed with waxies). Lilah is in the apartment above Leopold she is awake all day scratching at the glass to be let out so she can parade around in the hopes of getting his attention. He is awake evening till late scratching for me to open his door so he can lay on top of his hot hide and watch for her. Gets most annoyed if I close the door. (they are all next to my chair). Twiglet my male Crestie tries throwing himself at the doors. Lady my female sits and watches him through the intervening glass, they both roam up and down all over the panes between them and even the mesh roof which they get stuck on hanging upside down. This has been going on for about four weeks now. :0)

its also breeding season and their appetite will decrease during it. Just keep to a constant schedule with offering food and they will start to eat again. Leopard geckos are designed to go for lengths of time without eating so them not eating for a few weeks won't hurt them.

Thanks for the video!! Do I HAVE to get a dimming thermostat for a deep heat projector or can I use the “regular” thermostat I already have for my heat mat? Done some research but I don’t get why it matters as long as it regulates the temp, since it’s not a visible light
@eternalbrea4 жыл бұрын
The dimming thermostats send constant energy to keep the element at the temp you set it at, this is best for bulbs because it will not flicker or burn it up quickly. DHPs don't have visible light, however it will last much longer than if it is on an on/off thermostat that heat mats typically are paired with.

slavicbacon paper towel is the easiest substrate. U dont need heat lamp. He will eat eventually, live food is a must
@fionashepley4784 жыл бұрын
Quarantine on paper towel for the first six weeks. Other good solids include textured tile and non-adhesive shelf liner. It’s best to offer digging enrichment over six months with reptisoil, organic top soil (without fertilizer or perlite, Scott’s is a good brand), or a bioactive mix. Make sure your heat mat is connected to a thermostat and measured by a digital thermometer. A ceramic heat emitter or deep heat projector (best option) connected to a thermostat would be beneficial but isn’t completely necessary. Overhead heating is good for raising ambient temps and providing more natural heating.

Baby geckos tend to sometimes feel threatened and bites can happen my gecko used to bite me all the time when i got her so the first few weeks i didnt rlly touch her or carry her around rather just put my hand in her terrarium and wait for her to explore and even if she did bite me i didnt like jerk my hand away cuz that way she would just learn that her bitting=me immediately leaving

I got my leo about 2 months ago and I rescued her from a person who kept her in a 5 gallon tank for 2 years she is now in a 20 gallon tank with 4 hides and she won't let me hold her. I think mine won't let me because she has past trauma. Maybe that's the same with yours if you got yours from a pet store.

If you stop holding the gecko when they bite then they will learn that biting you will make you stop holding her and she will keep biting so just slowly work with her

I bought a leopard gecko and a full set up 3 days ago and they gave me HabiStat Leopard Gecko Bedding it’s a mix of soil, grit, and sand. I’ve put it in the tank as that’s all I have at the moment, I haven’t heard many reviews on this substrate what do you recommend i should do with it ?
@fionashepley4784 жыл бұрын
Quarantine on paper towel for the first six weeks. That substrate should be fine over six months as long as your husbandry is correct.

My gecko doesn’t seem to grow much. I feed worms and he has a calcium bowl. Anything else I should be doing?
@leopardgeckotalk4 жыл бұрын
Make sure the food is gutloaded and dusted. A calcium bowl alone isn't enough - here's a video I did on keeping your gecko healthy kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXvZkmCimteqe68

I have had two recent animal deaths with 2 dwarf gourami fish i had, one went due to iridovirus (Non-cureable virus) and the other to dropsy (while i was treating the tank) :(

You can hold toads because they have warty dry skin that doesn’t absorb human oils

Are you sure? I thought you're meant to either wear gloves or wet your hands beforehand?
