Is it just me or does £30,000/£32,000 seem quite low? Maybe in the context of the outputs expected of a part-qualified worker it makes sense.... How about a video on what you did in each role, but said frankly - no corporate spin?

I started a level 7 apprenticeship (CIMA) 8 months ago. Due to exemptions, I am studying at the management level and have passed my first exam. My company is coming towards the performance appraisal period, so im expecting a meeting about my next years performance targets and possibly pay. Im earning £28.5k, should I ask for a payrise to £35k maybe? I never done a payrise negoviation before and HR dont seem to have any published guidelence around payrises, so not sure how to approach this...
@CRAIGO10 Жыл бұрын
I don’t have the knowledge of how your company operates but from my experience, you’re pay is predominatently linked to your role. Yes I recieved small pay rises for progression but not at £6.5k for finishing 2 levels. Ultimately a business will reward you for the role you have and the effectiveness on the job. Of course push it, but don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t get you to £35k! 😀 Hope that helps!

Controversial Q - Do you believe that women CIMA students/CGMA's make the same as their male counterparts?
@CRAIGO103 жыл бұрын
Ohhh very controversial & not an easy question to answer. My opinion; two new hires at entry level, yes. Two 40 year olds, one male who has worked all the way through vs a female who took a 5 year career break to look after a new born, maybe not. They would have missed out on 5 years of appraisal increases. And then the argument of do women get to the high level roles as frequently as men, probably not and therefore paid less. A lot of studies out there on this, give them a search! 😬

Hello. A CIMA student here. What is PER ? Heard that word many times and usually people do it after completing CIMA .
@CRAIGO103 жыл бұрын
Hey! Stands for 'Practical Experience Requirements', essentially it is about you displaying that you work on certain competencies/skills alongside your exams as part of your full time job over a three year period. Without the PER you cannot obtain the CGMA designation. I recommend you do some reading here; www.cimaglobal.com/Studying/Becoming-a-cgma/Practical-experience-requirements/
