My question is how are you insured with this setup. Because if some one rearends you that would be one big ouch

Thanks for making this one Chase! I appreciate the candidness about the cost of the gear. It's really cool to see the behind the scenes stuff like this.

Of course man. My goal is to teach as many people the ins and outs of what goes on with this sort of thing.

I feel like that's a ton of money. but at the same time, when I think about camera stuff it all makes sense.

Yea it's not cheap but the quality of footage you get with it I feel is worth it.

You know you love cinematography when you have more money hanging off the back of your camera car than what it cost to buy the camera car.
@TheGorillaBiker3 жыл бұрын
I like Patrick. He seems nice. Hello Patrick. That's a loooooot of money but, not surprising when you see the quality it puts out, like not a crazy amount for a pro pro level setup :) Very interesting. I honestly thought like 50k easy considering my camera setup was like...2k dollars

I'm gonna just suction cup mount a Ronin SC to my car with a Sony a6000 lol. I knew that set up wasn't cheap but my brain broke when that you said the arm was $8,000. This entire setup was a lot more than I expected. Then the camera and lens combo is WAY nicer than I thought you were using.
@ChaseBueker3 жыл бұрын
Best of luck with that man. haha to be fair we started by using GH5 suction cupped to the outside of the car so you gotta start somewhere.

My guess had a range of 40-60k and I settled on 53k as my final guess. Big win for the footage that you guys get for that total cost.

my guess was around the 50k .. considering the Armed camera car that doug d reviewed was like 150k. so I figured this being a 3rd the set up to be the that for the price.. now that you are 32 or say 45 with the cost of the vehicle is nice. great overview of this.. way to keep it real. cheers.

Here's a challenge make it review of one of your motorcycles with just your GoPro and a iPhone and still get the car movie shots if that's possible and see if you can actually tell a major difference because for a lot of people. That might be something they can afford and then realize they don't have to spend $17,000 when most people don't have that now that's a challenge I would care to see
@ChaseBueker3 жыл бұрын
That’s a pretty serious challenge. I think I’d be up for it.

Are you not able to buy a discovery 3 and film by hand and gimble from the trunk? Saves all that expensive gear being outside of your jeep and as you are aware if you crash with the kit like that it’s fair to say it’ll all be destroyed
@ChaseBueker3 жыл бұрын
What happens if your hanging out the back and get in a wreck?
@FoodAndDrinkUK3 жыл бұрын
@@ChaseBueker true however the chances of that compared to your equipment hanging out is different. If you was to rear end someone, worst case is the filter will just fly towards the backseat when the camera and kit on the back of the car will most likely be damaged. If production companies like top gear film from a discovery 3 it’s most likely the best way to do that. It saves having to spend all the extra money on your equipment when it could of been used to buy/down payment on the discovery but each to there own. I enjoyed the video and like how detailed you were about it!
@ChaseBueker3 жыл бұрын
I see where you are coming from but let me shed some light for ya. The guys at top gear are mostly doing traveling when they are in the Discovery 3's. By not using this sort of rig you save on having to carry a TON more camera rigging equipment. Look at our rig as more of something they would use to test on a track. I cant say for sure but I would imagine that if you saw what they used on track it would look pretty similar to what we are running.

For the video that rig captures, totally worth it. More than I would have guessed by a mile. I'm curious if there is any other channel on KZbin that has this level of camera tech. I'm guessing that, for camera rigs on KZbin, you are a 1% er

Yea I’m not 100% sure. I’d doubt there are that many but there has to at least be a few.

Yea I honestly guess around 40k and I guessed the camera itself was about 5k camera lens was around 10k and 15k for the swively stuff and 10k for the frame stuff bolted to the car. I was a bit off but not completely!

Most of them his is illegal to do in so many countries it’s not funny! Most require a permit to hang a camera at the back of a vehicle! Chase, please think of the bigger picture. SAFETY FIRST! Over an un-accomplished rider, with little or no skills. Just a high supporter base! Best wishes man! 👍😎

I'm guessing the police are more forgiving with this kind of setup than hanging out of a van? Do you ever get bothered for permits? Might get into car cinematography in the near future but not sure on the legality of filming on highways and stuff. Thanks Chase!

So we've been running this for about a year, year and a half. We've ridden by plenty of cops and we have so far always gotten the same response as other car drivers. They stare at it for a sec, slowly pull their phone out and take a picture and that's it. lol
