I am a PM in LA. I joined the IBEW local 11 for a 5 yr apprenticeship, as an inside wireman. I completed 3 1/2 years then became a project coordinator then a manager. My point is get paid while you learn yall!

I’m a PM and it really isn’t boring, but I do work more in software applications. It depends on the industry you’re in for sure, but herding cats regularly doesn’t get too boring lol. Absolutely love my job though.

Don't be mad at him. Learn from him. As you can see his experience in that industry gave him the ability to be detailed and speak the language of project management as it relates to large scale solar projects. Someone fresh out of school would probably not have enough knowledge about that to do his particular job. It took him years of actually doing some of the work that he now schedules to be able to know enough about the subject to adequately do his job while someone who has the project management degree but not the boots on the ground experience could probably become a project manager much faster than he did. You should pick a certain focus and start gain experience even if your first job is not an a project manager. Take any job that assists on some projects in whatever industry you want to focus on. IT, construction, healthcare, oil and gas, finance. The first job might be extremely low level. After one year apply to as many project manager jobs in that industry as possible

@@TheMariemarie16 You're doing a lot of assuming. I have over 10 years of hands on, boots on the group, blue collar redneck experience. Three degrees. My specialty is material handling and automation. I worked for a company for three years during COVID. After that, they decided to lay many people off. I was one of those. Been looking for work since August and applied to over 2000 jobs. Only three interviews. America is broken. I got bamboozled into moving here and becoming an American citizen.
