A few years ago I shopped in Aldi which I was happy with. My teenage kids complained! So I went back to Coles. One night my son who decided to cook some pasta used a jar of basil pesto hidden away in the pantry. It was delicious, so he said how much better It was shopping back in Coles. I just laughed because the pesto was still there from Aldi days! He learned a lesson and now he’s married they shop in Aldi. 😸

Hi, Really interesting guys. Our friends in QLD told us that Aldi is hugely cheaper than Woolworths or Coles. I couldn't believe the cost now of groceries in Australia!!! Crazy!!Your Aldi store is very similar prices to the UK though. I just find that UK supermarkets just have massive selection of food, hence my weight gain since returning lol Love your videos as fascinating to watch. Lv x

Cheers from W.A. Between Coles, Woolies, Aldi and farmers' markets, most of what you want can be found. Substituting is no big deal, and I can go without if some item's price skyrockets. You both look great, have a safe and happy Christmas.

Hey Ross! Can you do a “Aussie shops” video? Kinda over view of each of the australia shops what they are best known for what you want to shop there for or what to avoid buying there because of price or quality and like their reputations? For example: Canadian Tire here in Canada. It’s kinda like a hammer barn but more auto stuff and you can get your car fixed too. They have great deals on random housewares (think pirex set for $5) but unless you’re on a tight budget or if you have a real nice car you should probably have your car looked after somewhere else. That sorta inside info.

Lol I thought only the US had those insane combo stores. For my narrow view... Woolies and Coles - all-rounder with big range and delivers. Aldi cheap and some unique good brands, but no real Deli. Meat differs in all these stores but honestly is pretty bad - i use an online butcher. IGA - usually good for having a look and walking out with nothing because it's expensive

We’ve been doing most of our shopping at Aldi since it first arrived in Aus… we’re a family of 4 and usually spend about $300 per week, more when our 17 yo daughter comes with us. Sometimes I’ll come home with something I don’t need from the centre isle because it’s a good price. The alcohol is also reasonable for the price, but I know you don’t have that in Qld

Yeah .. the cost of living 🥴. It can be a hit n miss with groceries. It can vary depending where you are buy from (not just the supermarket but the location, the cities often more pricey) and also the time of year. If there's been lots of floods then certain things go up too(remember the lettuce lol). Lots of things are cheaper at Aldi and few are slightly more pricey than Woolies and some stuff is about the same. I remember Kaitlyn did a comparison of Woolies and her old grocery store in the USA ,using the online shop apps and it was actually a bit dearer in America. Local farmers markets and discount fruit and veg can save you money on those items. Might be worth doing a comparison one day and see what it could save you. I remember while living in Sydney I would sometimes go to the markets, especially in the last hour before closing as stuff was reduced down even further and you could get some great bargains.

Good thing you bought your house before prices shot up further. Groceries are a bit expensive but other expenses just blow it out of the water. Like interest rate increases, anything with labour, and hardware items. Had a quote to replace a $1000 hot water heater for $1000 in labour. Smoking their socks.

You are definitely a dinky-di Australian now because we all check off our receipts after a shop......My best tip is to not waste any food becuase statistically people throw out 1/3 of all food they buy. I have a husband and 4 teenagers and it is pretty rare for me to throw out any food.......I know not everyone can do this particularly if both parents have full-time jobs but I think the money I save around the home buy not throwing out food and other things means I only have to work a part time job.......I always get shelf stable/UHT milk so we don't have to throw it out.

Aldi has become just as expensive as the majors now, they discount by 1 cent under everyone. Today I noticed new price boxes and labels across their store, this must have cost millions to role out across Australia. They ban plastic straws and yet Aldi produce millions of new labels even although the old ones were just fine...this is why their prices have gone up on a near monthly basis the past six months....overall it's a poor experience in their stores and the staff are let's say "different" but not that good.
