Mad that AutoTrader is not in Ireland. It was in the 90’s but vanished. And post brexit buying cars in the UK to import into Ireland is mostly dead which is a bloody shame.

Killed the car trade here. We were massively reliant on cars from the UK. Which are often better specced and better maintained than Irish cars.

Auto trader were in Ireland until last year. They were called Carzone over here. Auto trader sold it last year for 30m

@@kelvyndoyle9339na the AutoTrader platform is very different to Carzone. AutoTrader May have bought Carzone a few years ago but AutoTrader as you know it in the UK has been gone for years. We are stuck with DoneDeal and Carzone.

I used to have so many Top Marques magazines laying around. The amount of money I wasted as a teenager, I wonder what my parents thought. Always got a buzz seeing a McLaren F1 listed. That's why I want to start trading, I have so much accumulated knowledge of cars, experience with running a business and also a web dev, I think I can make a good go of it. The trick is taking on simple cars, small displacement, relatively new, nothing complicated. No ropey german metal with sus history, no massive high mileage SUV's etc etc.

I do love all your videos. It is your honesty that always shines through. £144k a year to AutoTrader. Back in 1993, we all forget the original. Exchange & Mart. So there was competition. Which exponentially meant, lower marketing costs for dealers. I have an idea for this market, and with that level of cost, I must pursue it 😳

What I did when I started out was start a service based motor trade business (started with detailing and bodywork and added more services over time) used the profits from that to buy my stock ( small amount of vehicles with larger margins) managed to do the repairs / work through my business at huge discount and then able to sell the car for a profit. Obviously this method won’t work for everyone but it solves the issue of storage and repairs / servicing I actually detailed your M6 calvin if you remember 😂

I'd love to do this myself. In fact, I used to work at a scratch and shine several years ago, and the manager did used car trading and asked me to be involved in it and manage the website, adverts etc. due to good english speaking, it skills and a lot of car knowledge, but even until now there's been so much stuff going on that he's not managed to start back up. I've got such a huge amount of car, market and some it knowledge going to waste but with everything so expensive, money is a big requirement to get started

This is why dealers cars are expensive comapred to private seller, but problem is that people hust judge everyones the same but its not true e.g. not all private sellers from home are selling a shit car or lemmon, some of us actully buy a car and just sell it for small profit even after putting moeny into it try to sell it as a dealer qaulity but still get time wasters and people saying oh its old car its not worth that when you see same or simler cars at others sellers and dealers for 2 times more and still sells. 😢

Answer is. A lol of time. Low cost. Plenty profit. Individual adverts. Before go Autotrader contract. If done with ease. Not hard. Can have a site 2/3 spaces office. Tax cars. Leave them 500 metres apart . It doesn't have to be expensive and you can start on ow capital.

Why do you only have to pay 16% tax/vat? Genuine question as I'm not vat registered but I was told by someone (can't remember who!) if I was, I'd charge the customer 20% but would only have to pay the tax man 16% back which is like what you said, but I don't understand why!

It’s not 16% mate it is actually 20% so it’s worked out as if we’ve charged our customer vat. For example: 100% - 16.666% is basically equal to 83.333 x 120%
