Agree Calvin about medication, seen from family at first hand what it does. The book 'Lost Connections' researches this, big pharma companies benefit. Connection and purpose is key.

I fully back everything you said there, there is no tablet for getting through life.. it’s life, you need to understand it’s not all Rosie and at times you need to plough through shit. You will feel better for it when you come out of it and you will have learned a lesson. One of the only things we can call our own is having the ability to choose how we react to stuff, so take control and decide what is the appropriate reaction to what ever situation your in. Big respect Calvin 🫡 and I’m sorry your people didn’t have the right answers and ended up doing what they did. Be it by tablets etc. no one should loose someone like that ❤

Calvin , I'm B/P . And proud . I'd live the same life again . My lows are the price I pay for the highs . I applaud what you're doing here BUT at the same time , not wishing to agree or disagree but simply as a heads up to anyone who may need it , I stopped cold turkey ... Initially , everything was good - no problems at all Over a period of time though, something became more and more apparent to me Things that were vaguely amusing , I was literally rolling around on the floor laughing Things that were vaguely sad , I had tears rolling down my face . Unnecessary extremes . 35mph but rev counter in the red ? We are all different . Differently balanced 'internals' . Turbo or N/A . But , we're not robots / computers / machines . So , one piece will never fix all . This really is a HUGE discussion . The robbing Pharmas . The commission chasing doctors . I get that ... But not ALL are bad . I've come across both . If you get a bad smell , it doesn't mean that YOU are the one who has just farted .... Good Luck to you Bud , channel , business , life in General . You've always struck me as a good 'un ... Let's face it , us nut-jobs have to stick together ! ! 😉 Andy C ps : I've never forgiven Mork for going back to Orson . If he had just called me , I would have talked him round . He had no clue what he meant to soooooooo many people , but he just never really understood . . Well done Calvin, I've lost my family during COVID and had 2 open heart surgery during the Pandemic. I was in hospital on my own and was discharged a driven home in a ambulance to be alone. I was close to give up, but now 5 years on I fight my demons every day but I'm still alive. Anti depressants are worse than morphine and valium. You can get hooked on those.

Went to see GP , was put on antidepressants . 14 yrs on and yes I still suffer/put up with it . With ALL all the dead and diing daily It see it does get to you. Just started presenting on a local radio station , it has given me something to concentrate on and makes me feel good , knowing ppl are listening to my work, choice of music and silly comments. I now rarely take meds for my depression . And feel good. Not always great.

calvin ive suffered depression all my life and walked away from a job id had for 20 years as i was so low i couldnt do it anymore. so went from a steady well paid job to nothing but ive survived. i found life is too short to be down and low and needed to be free and just do what i wanted instead of doing what you have to do! thats my way of dealing with it and i also had a passion for old fords and campervans as well as my animals i keep so you need a focus to make you get up in the morning. also moved to a rural area with no neighbours so i can just plod on without any hassle or issues. i still have happy days and low days but sort of manage it and if i keep busy i feel better especially doing outside manual work i.e digging, fencing, painting, renovating etc etc and lastly you are spot on with medication its best to keep off it as me personally think its a never ending cycle if you start taking them, try and do positive things that give you a buzz or a feel good factor all the best john on another topic i think i know whats wrong with the talbot campervan you have at binca!

Nice one Calvin. Talking about this stuff is the real key I think. One thing you feel when you have any kind of mental health issue is alone, until that first person you talk to about it understands then often reveals something you were unaware of about their own mental health to you, straight away you know you're not alone in what you're feeling, which in itself helps a great deal. Keep doing what you're doing.

Great to see you sharing your experiences and what worked for you. I’ve suffered with depression myself during COVID (I have other chronic conditions that I didn’t know how getting COVID would affect) went on meds (SSRIs) and recently dropped them after 3 years, by myself and didn’t ween off them, so it was a weird month of withdrawal. Let’s be clear that there is a huge difference between depression and Bipolar. Someone who is Bipolar should never just throw away the mood stabilisers/antipsychotics that they are on, it can take months to safely get off them, and it can lead to a mania episode that could be dangerous. I agree that a healthy work life balance, exercise, eating well etc CAN work really well. But talking to a health professional is important too, albeit one that doesn’t just throw you on meds right away! I totally hear your message about trying to sort your life out without meds, but that also isn’t for everyone.

Been a follower for years, but I disagree with not taking ‘antidepressants’. There are hundreds of different types. I’ve been on mine for years, past issues in my life caused ptsd, and many other issues that come from it. I would never recommend throwing them in the bin, I couldn’t live without mine. I’ve tried taking my life 3 times prior to help and counselling for years. I get this is ‘your opinion’ on meditation but people need it. Not meaning to be harsh with this reply.

Spot on I’m only young but I’ve been depressed since I can remember sometimes having better and worse periods but I’ve found the best way to help it is to exercise eat properly and cut out negative habits I think I big problem is not having enough too do, it leaves your l mind to run free and start thinking down negative paths so I try to keep busy nowadays which has helped me so much but obviously I still have off days but overall much better. As men we need have more awareness of mental health problems like ive been with around people joking about depression and suicide saying it’s not real even though some of our shared friends have sadly taken their life’s.

Calvin I carry the exact same views as you regarding mental health. We all have these feelings we just have to work out how we deal with them. There are far too many people that look for a diagnosis and therefore some way to fix them, generally going the route of tablets and medication. Those same drugs then become difficult to live without so give you an additional problem in which your problems are heightened when you don't have them. I try so hard to explain this to my teenager but it is very difficult. Talking to someone does help massively, if you don't have someone there are many phone or online services that are helpful. We all struggle but we all keep fighting, DON'T GIVE UP. Thanks for this Calvin 🙌

Calvin what you’re saying is absolutely spot on. You can’t control emotions nor thoughts but you can choose how to react to them, there’s no bad or good feeling they’re all just feelings and are completely normal. Also you’re right about anti depressants, it’s just not the solution, making it worse in the long run and not really addressing the real issue. They should teach basic psychology in schools, it’s actually criminal that they don’t.

The council will only help me with housing in a 1st floor flat but only with 1 dog. To make matters worse 1 of my dogs is a XL bully x standard American bully so I've had to get him excempted insurance etc it's a lonely world but my dogs keep me going. I can't take medication because I'm constantly driving and behind the wheel. Scared to leave the dogs whilst I pop in and grab food etc. Even going to the doctor's is a no go because I can't be trusted with tablets as I've overdosed before so I'm literally stuck in a rut. Well said Calvin. I came close a few times and a lot of people have suffered. I take meds and that helps me. You have your own opinion but that’s OK. You do have to work on life in our own way. Well said.👍

Wow! Very eye opening, I’m one of those people, my main struggle is finding my purpose in life, I’m ok at a lot of things, but it’s trying to finding that something I’m good at, that I can make a business out it 🤔

Totally agree, anti depressants take away all emotions turning you into a zombie. The only time I've ever felt suicidal was whilst I was on anti depressants. I'd never take them again no matter how hard life gets. Well done Calvin for speaking up about this. I hope it can help others by having them deal with emotions rather than repress them.

I have been where you have described but back then there was never the support that there is now. A train station guard stopped me from going through with it. I can and still do hide my feelings but like you say you learn to deal with your emotions in your own way and my way works for me and has done for over 30 years. I have sadly lost someone very close that could not deal with things that I feel if I was able to speak to them before they went I could have changed his mind. I now like to feel I can listen and talk to anyone that wants to.

Good video, truthful, going through similar at the moment. Thankfully I had the courage to say no to prescribed medicine, didn’t want to go down that road. Had some time out, getting my head straight and cutting out the people who put me in this situation in the first place. Life will get better so having another go on life’s roller coaster 😊

Totally agree with avoiding tablets, my ex gf used to keep trying to encourage me to take them when I was going through a bad time and I’m so glad I chose not to now because they just mask the problem you need to work stuff out yourself.
