Can you check stake superfund ? It's handled all the paperwork and requirements basic for $990/year with property $1690/year and more complex $2400 /year And investing like normal brokers acct once all set up

what about the CGT benefits of having assets CGT free in retirement ? apparently there are big differences from say a SMSF where index funds are bought and held until CGT exempt in retirement vs ‘pooled funds’ in a big super fund

Tax free during pension phase and the 15% tax during accumulation phase are the main benefits of leaving money in Super funds, there are many industry super funds provide index fund options, not only SMSFs.
