i have been quoted $15,000 for an acre to forest mulch, and clear completely for the crop field. I am in Brooksville Florida. They are mulching, root raking and leveling as well and then burning large roots onsite. Small roots will be buried 3 ft below grade. then regrading property flat Does that sound fair? I was hoping to be at $10,000 So is there anything i could do myself as a land owner to keep the cost down. Not begrudging the company anything, just trying desperately to keep to a tight budget. Any tips and ideas to help try to keep to my budget would be great or is that a standard price for the work. the acre is fairly dense. Look forward to hearing back from you 😊

A structure being built on a piece of land justifies clearing instead of mulching. If there's no structure being built on top of the land, then you can forestry mulch. Is this correct?

A structure being built on the land requires the land to be stripped and grubbed in the building area. The rest can be mulched and the mulch can just stay there (depending on grading requirements for elevations)

@TheTreeShop Okay, I understand 👍. What would be your approach on a driveway install? Clearing or mulching? Does your answer depend on what the finish is? For example concrete, asphalt, limestone, etc.

Correct. Can mulch and leave that as a temporary driveway or just strip it all and throw down concrete. Never build anything that is weight bearing on top of stuff that turns to dirt in time

I don't think it makes sense to pay $7k to run a forestry mulcher for 2 days. I'd rather just rent the equipment for a week and get everything done plus more for $1k.
