🥚🥚🥚🥚 Huge difference. Stores also have the better for you kind of eggs, but those are more than twice as expensive compared to the least costly kinds.

i was just thinking about this but i have no chickens now so my cost would be higher. buy or make a coop, buy chickens and supplies...feeder, waterer, bedding etc. plus i would only be looking at 4-5 hens so not even one third of your production. i will still probably do it next spring so they have more time to mature before our winters arrive...bbrrrrrrrrr 🥶

So it's probably breakeven if you calculate total cost of owning chickens such as the coop, maintenance, ground cover, replacement chickens every couple of years, etc. Obviously it is ideal to have our own chickens, but purely from a cost standpoint, it's most likely breakeven or a loss if one only have a few chickens and they aren't enough to cover total egg usage per month.

A year later and the price have only continued to increase. I buy Vital Farms 18ct for almost $12. The 12 count is now about $8. Up from the $5.64 you show here. Such a shame.

so selling a dozen eggs yields ~ 2 dollars of profit. Which means ech chicken generates a profit of 2÷12×4×4 = 2.67 dollars a month. I can't understand how these farms make any profit selling pasture raised eggs for 6 dollars.

Raising chickens on pasture generally means that they free range full time and you have to feed them way less then a backyard chicken keeper is buying in feed. Not sure exactly how they do it but I'm sure it's profitable for them

Do you have to consider the cost to keep them healthy... Meds etc? Or are the Cost free? Then there's the cost of the coop, your time invested, etc. 😇

We don't usually treat them with anything and the one time I did have to treat them several years ago the cost was pretty minimal. I don't factor in the cost of the coop for this video. And for my time, it's actually less than an hour per week!

Nice video, please replace your battery in your smoke detector. The video is after you have spent several thousand dollars on equipment to get your operation started. It also doesn’t include medical issues which I’m seeing right now is a large issue. Happy that you’ve had success, You make it sound simple. However, there’s so much more that goes into it but it’s not mentioned.
