Good job Viktor i did the same test on my channel too. It great info to share and I got similar results. For me was 1sec / km
@bleskiven3 жыл бұрын
It'd be interesting to see you do the same test on 4*100mm as well. Another test one could do would be to match speed, instead og HR and then track HR to see which is the more efficient at the same speed. That way you could possibly test different speeds, and draw conclusions from that.

Please, please, please. Make the same with a beginner speed skater and with someone of a year of speedskating experience. And options like 4x100 and a hi-lo.

Thank you for this very interesting review. What would also be interesting is to test top speed differences between the two. So these would be very short sprint tests whereby each time you give it all you have and see on the GPS app what was your top speed.

I remember indoor speed skating and the 4x100 mm wheels. They felt somewhat lacking. Then I got the 4x110 mm and they felt complete just the way I like them. Maybe one day I will try the 3x125 mm.

If big bearings are created it really make a change in skating world. Big wheels are created and works well but deep inside they still roll in small bearing that have the same rolling ability. If big bearings are invented itll do the job more better
@paulblichmann27919 ай бұрын
Inline skating does not produce the load OR the RPM OR the heat to justify a nonstandard bearing. It already barely matters what lubricant you use!

won't 4 x Xfirm = 3 x XXfirm ? weight pressure on 3 wheels are higher, thus, should be harder durometer
@piotrsykut23773 жыл бұрын
Actually I believed that spreading body weight over 3 wheels makes higher pressure per wheel, so 3 wheels setups I would rather choose harder than 4 wheels.

Though very interesting and though I also think 125mm is a little faster in real life, it's close to impossible to test it this way Victor (and Pascal). There are too many variables to reckon with. Like; you should have exactly the same wheelwear, similar bearing resistance, all physical and environmental conditions the same and so on... That said, still a very nice comparison!

Agreed :)

Do you think you have to alter your skating style & the way you push between the 2 setups?
@stevej.66743 жыл бұрын
I REALLY wanted to love and skate 3x125’s but the 4x110’s just feel smoother, more stable and can get more push to the ground. But proof is in the pudding and I haven’t seen 4x110’s win any Berlin marathons of late.
@Fuzzball Жыл бұрын
For flat courses, 3x125s are probably going to win. However, 4x110s are still winning hilly races.

To have a more accurate comparison, you would have done the two 1-hour run on separate days. If you do the two runs consecutively, the latter must be disadvantaged I would have thought.
@thorupviktor3 жыл бұрын
That was my initial thought as well. However I did a 3x1 hour session a few days prior to this with steady speed and HR on the same setup... Therefore, I figured weather conditions would be too much of a factor if I carried out the test over two days :)

Can those frames do 165mm or 195mm only
@bmw335hdk22 жыл бұрын
It is 4x110mm and 4x125mm mounting on 195 only. You cannot put it on urban boots. At least you need adapter for it. But thanks to Micro Skate. They made 4x110mm frame that can be mounted on Urban Boots 😄

If your over 200 lbs I think 4 wheels may be faster because of more weight on each bearing and wheel with 3?
@thorupviktor3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it plays a big role. The wheel-to-ground surface is also larger due to the larger diameter of 125mm
@jessiecassio83492 жыл бұрын
Too many variables. Would have liked to see a 3x110 vs 3x125 or at the very least both wheels have the same hardness. Plus the wind could have changed a lot in an hour or 2, rendering these results worthless.. Perhaps an indoor test next time
@ZadakLeader2 жыл бұрын
Exactly what I was going to write. Also 4x110 are probably heavier than 3x125 and that can have a role as well. In my opinion, is how much yourself can put out as force/stamina etc. and has less to do with wheel sizes. Obviously there are limits to this statement as you don't really see people doing marathons in 60mm wheels. But the difference should become smaller and smaller the bigger your wheels get. And weight IS a factor
@probabilidadestadistica8400 Жыл бұрын
Wheel manufacturers usually state that smaller wheels are better for acceleration and bigger wheels are better for keeping velocity. I think it means bigger wheels make you waste less energy. Sprinters do not use 125 mm, they use 110 mm.

Viktor, I started skating about a month ago now. On average I can get up to 20.5km/h which I think is not bad for a beginner but after every kilometer I have to slow down due to lower back pain. Do you have any tips about what you can do to fix lower back issues? love your videos!
@probabilidadestadistica8400 Жыл бұрын
Superman, Cobras, planks, deadlifts are good for lower back strengthening, dryland training is also going to improve it. Every time you skate try going further than before. I mean if you can skate 2 km before starting feeling pain, next time go for 2.5 km and so on. If you think your pain is not normal get a back exam.

No offence but your Technique is one, which in no way is energy saving , you are lifting the legs behind you and that consumes a lot of energy. About 125 mm wheels, if in a marathon you do not use them, youre not in the race, easy as that. Definetely since the beginning they are faster ! problem is that the amateur federation has policies about wheels and they force skaters to use a particular kind of wheels, something ridiculous but it is so ? additional to the fact about 125 mm wheels ,there is a project going on to lunch 130 mm wheels , they provide a tiny advantage, but so far that is commercially at a stand still . Have fun !
