Hi Sang, it would be nice if you provide links to your other social media accounts if people want to check them out and support you there.

That is a great idea, Josie. I will work on the links 😭😭

Couple thoughts… I know you probably think it doesn’t matter and that the content you provide matters more, but I think you should put a little more effort in your appearance. Being more presentable will help with views and give you more executive presence. Specifically, I think you should shave all facial hair. I am Asian too and asian facial hair just doesn’t look good. Also, keep a tidy haircut with no hair going over the ears. Lastly, go to the gym and put some muscle on.

Korean guy here. I think people place too much value on physical appearance. That being said, Sang would legit look really sharp like an investment banker if he went out and styled himself that way. But it's up to each person on how they want to sell themselves and show value.

@ I'm not saying he needs plastic surgery, designer clothes/jewelry, or the latest fashion trends. All I'm saying is a little bit of effort goes a long way. It can be simple, just shave, get haircuts every month, wear something nicer than a t shirt, go to the gym, etc.

I don't disagree with you, and most of the people I know would agree with you. But I'm also an autistic Korean like Sang (I mean this as a joke), so like him I also need to work on not taking more than just a practical approach to things like appearance.

Seems like you were overpaid a little bit, and like you said that could be why they let you go. As well, I'm sure they knew about your savings and how you definitely are not living paycheck to paycheck as some of your coworkers might have been (be it because of having dependents, or because they aren't as frugal as you are). But you seem to be taking it well and using this as a learning opportunity and you still appreciate your former employer. But never sell yourself short. If you wanted to go back there in the job market, I'm very confident you can easily find another job. Maybe it will pay a little less than you made before, but if you get back in the job market with this new humble mindset, I'm sure that anyone will see value in that. Don't rush into anything though, the most valuable thing you can do with 2025 is to continue broadening your life experience outside of work so that in the future you can be an even more well rounded person.

I'd like to add that based on my limited knowledge of finances as an engineer, Silicon Labs is bleeding money while you clearly were not, so the company must have a different mindset and relationship with money than you do. It seems like they are teaching you a lesson a little bit. Just keep your head down for a bit and I'm sure more opportunities will come to you.
