You shouldn't be seduced by high dividends, concentrate on the total run. There's no point in collecting large dividends if your overall investment is going down. However I'd say VOO, IWMI, QQQ and JPEQ. I put down $100k to ETFs, it's earning season you know, it was this time last year I made a huge breakthrough with $50k, handed it to a remarkable adviser and broker. Looking forward to how the end of year plays out.

I invest 15% of my salary into my work pension fund and over the past year I have done about 5% into my USD account with EE, mainly into VOO and SCHD with a few dividend growth picks sprinkled in but I have neglected my TFSA so hopefully from next year I will manage to max out that too on top of my current investments - wanting to get that F U (freedom unlocked) money 💪👊

Aren’t these also tax free even though they not in a TFSA. Since if you sell you will only pay tax, and SARS give you 40k limit. Sure the dividends will be 20 percent. But tax on these still won’t be allot

Yes they will be tax free in terms of capital gains tax for now. Of course the hope is to keep them growing over decades, and at that point it would cross the threshold if ever I needed/wanted to sell. As it stood with my local and offshore, if I needed to sell for any reason it would have been over the limit. So good to make these changes now. And then yes as you mentioned the 20% on dividends, so definitely helps to save that 😊. So you're right it's not too much, but as it grows im trying to structure it better for the future as well 😊

I really don't think there is a tax-free offshore investment, besides a tax-free investment using rand-denominated offshore funds. As a South African tax resident, you would have to disclose all your local and offshore capital gains, dividends and interest - irrespective of where your assets are domiciled.

That's true, but I'm currently living and working offshore which does change some of those things you mentioned 😊. I'll elaborate a bit more in the video, but let me know your thoughts after.
