Every portfolio starts small then grows over time. Main thing is if Dividends grow. I started end September 2024. I have invested previously many years ago but those days you had to buy 100 shares. Now there is low cost online brokers and fractional shares. I got first dividends in October from ETS and was just over r20 but in January it will be much more as I started adding. During October November. Always nice to see dividends and growth over time

can I ask as a totally new beginner. 1. Do I buy purchase shares when it is green or red on the graph of the company? 2. Do I have to buy and sell everyday or should I buy and leave it for months? 3. Am I supposed to check the app everyday for progress of shares??
@mikedearden77717 күн бұрын
@@Puuuurr you would have to learn about technical analysis as shares go up and down so you can't buy if a share goes up or down. Also fundamental analysis. If a share has good earnings and good future prospects it could be a buy. But also if a share has bad future prospects due to whatever factors then it may not be a buy. If you are new it would be wiser to stick to ETFs especially the ones that track indexes as you are buying a whole basket of shares so you are diversified. Then buy regularly like monthly.

I started with EE early last year, and from my calculations, I will start earning around R150+ each time dividends pay out and will reinvest directly back into the stock. Numbers aren't 100% accurate since I top up on stocks weekly, and the portfolio increases as I go. Dividends I receive over my whole portfolio pays out, March, April, May, June, August, September, October, and November. Some stocks pay divs annually or bi-annually.

The key with easy properties is to buy more shares of property you already have in auction and buy then underpriced so 80c for R1 share. Then wait it out very long term so that even if you sell at the initial R1 you mafe profit via discount and dividends

Great video and love your authenticity on your journey :) hope you continue to grow in your learning. There are many ways to understand and interpret financials but you'll definitely get the hang of it! Your view may just change from targeting Dividends to capital appreciation.. That was an eye opener for me. Keep doing the things with the relatable explanations 😊😊💯🙏👌 BTW - easy properties has monthly auction periods so just see when the next auction is on the EE calender. Also - Thrive shares, they are discounted from a fees perspective. Easy Equities tries to incentivise buying activity on specific stocks so when that little rocket is there, it means it qualifies for the discount, cheap way to save on fees!

Easy Properties is a bit different. You're paying for a portion of a property and the return is the rental income received less expenses multiplied by the % of that property you own. It only makes sense if you have a substantial amount there so your ownership % can be higher.

The ETN I haven’t researched but from my guess it’s gonna be an exchange traded note that basically allows South African traders who have constraints in investing in the US market to gain US exposure (Tesla exposure specifically not the whole US exposure) its returns won’t be like investing in Tesla but will have adjustments for the “cost of convenience/fees” and the differential in the USD/ZAR rates

USA assets are definitely the best place to be invested in currently considering the monetary policy as well as Trumps incoming fiscal policies which are all pro growth, if it's possible you should also look into the USA small cap stocks as Trumps fiscal policies are really going to be supportive of the small cap stocks and we might even see them outperform the likes of the S&P500 and the Nasdaq

The journey financial literacy is a long one my friend hopefully she'll get back to you. I'll share the little I can there's an expression in the stock market that "Time in the market is better than timing the market." This means you should invest for the long term Vs chasing short term gains. In general it's best to buy shares in an ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) which is a basket of multiple stocks this reduces your risk by avoiding putting most of your money in one stock. Set a monthly target\amount that you want to put away make sure it's money you won't need over the next 3 to 5 to 10 years to avoid withdrawing. I would suggest on easy equities you use their TFSA (Tax Free Savings Account) a TFSA is a type of investment that does not trigger tax making it the best vehicle for investing aggressively in stocks. They only offer ETFs & Unit Trust investments in there no individual stocks and every ETF & Unit Trust has a yearly management fee so when reading the Fund Fact Sheet or Minimum Disclosure Document make sure to look for something called the Total Expense Ratio (TER) that is the annual fee. I can't advise you on what to invest but I'll tell you in mine I invest in 3 ETFs Total World MSCI (which invests a lot in American\Western stocks) FNB MidCap (which invests in south African stocks) and Emerging Markets Top 50 (which invests in Asian stocks). In the 2 - 3 years I've had them they've produced a return of 20% plus I sold to take profit (in a TFSA that doesn't trigger tax but in a normal account you would owe SARS money on those profits). If you want to get serious about investing in individual stocks (I tried & realised it's a full-time job so I stick to ETFs) read a book by Benjamin Graham Intelligent Investor and Stock Market Cashflow by Rich Dad Company. It's easy to find the first one online otherwise good luck friend & always do your homework invest in what you understand or at least know enough not to get scared of volatility or regret your decisions.

When you are investing for long term, you don’t base your decision on what is doing well now rather what has performed well in the past 5 to 10 years. This was an important lesson I learned a few years ago. For me focusing on dividend paying assets is my investment strategy, while my principle investment grows, I still want to be able to get some returns that I can re-invest to allow my investments to grow even faster or I can withdraw those investments and help it beef up my income. I don’t think there is anything wrong with any investment strategy so ling as you are clear about your game plan.

Before you buy stocks like kumba first look at commodity prices of the products they mine Eg if iron or copper prices are dropping it means the price of the product kumba is mining is losing value and that will result in revenues dropping too so it’s not the right time to buy
