I think your secret to success is that you haven’t changed anything about your channel that made it grow in the first place. So many KZbinrs make the mistake of changing what made them unique. Keep it up and you will be at a million subscribers!!

I agree totally. Or cut back on videos to who knows what. And the big annoying thing is the sites that start out frugal and down to earth and then start getting sponsors that sell very high end items. For instance a hand made home promoting sheets that cost $400. That’s annoying. I stick to her videos because so cheerful, frugal and real.

Ok...I admit it...I was nosey!!!! But the information is great. It is a business and one of the reasons I think you are successful is you started truly treating it as one and seeking help when you needed it. I love the channel. I love the frugal meals and shopping! Love learning about the fit side too-although perhaps you need a "how to start small" section on that for those of us...."athletically, grace and out of shape" challenged especially since some of us are down way too long with a specific virus. Thanks for your optimism and reality!

There are these videos out there that will tell you how much a KZbinr makes per year. Of course, most of this is an educating guess. Thank you for emphasizing that when you start a business, you must consult a CPA and an attorney. It is a lot of money upfront (your initial visit and then your retainer), but it is well worth it to make sure that you set up and run your business properly. I worked in public accounting (I had to take early retirement due to health issues); so, I saw problems when clients weren't running their business

I am glad you are doing well but I have to admit sometimes I just scroll through ads and sponsorship info - not just on your channel - but on several channels I watch. And you may not know it, but YT can place any additional ads on a channel's videos, including channels that are not monetized yet. So sometimes you may come across ads NOT placed by the channel owner, but you would not know it wasn't placed by them, and they might not even be aware of it, since it would happen AFTER they upload their video, and they would not see it.

Christine I tried being frugal at the supermarket, but I cannot. I have to have good products to eat, such as, pasture-raised eggs, certain cuts of meat , walnut milk, pure butter etc, and tons of veges. Mainly green leafy and cruciferous. It all adds up. I cant skimp on quality. I just can’t do it. I literally eat my skin care -and with vitamin supplement too. It’s a huge chunk of change. I look for deals like you, but the quality of the deals is not for me. I’ll keep tryin to improve though.

I watch this channel because Christine is realistic.... When she was making a lil more money, she was honest and said.... we could only afford this because we had a bit more income coming in from youtube. She was honest about she had side hustles she needed to do pay bills. I have watched other youtubers doing "the frugal living while being a stay at home mom". I tried so hard to figure out what I was doing wrong (I was grocery shopping frugally and never bought anything that was not NEEDED and only on sale but was still living cheque to cheque)...I couldn't figure out how these people were affording a nanny, trips, renovating etc on being a "single" income household. Several of them after a couple of months let it "slip" they had a tonne of side hustles and worked from home. So essentially I was trying to copy these people and do all their tips and tricks to find out they had a lot more money coming in. It was essentially if they were not working a 9-5 job out of the house they considered it living off "one" income.

I have a question for you Christine. I am always ver aware of the money aspect when I am watching my favorite KZbin channels and I make certain that I "like" and almost always comment...but my question is for example if you do a video on 10 best mushroom recipes I am going to click on it and like it because I want to support your channel. However I dont eat mushrooms so these recipes will not interest me at all. Do I need to watch for a certain length of time for you to get paid? Also, in regards the ads, if I "skip ad" does that impact your pay? Please clear this up for me.
@abitbol17
@abitbol17 2 жыл бұрын
That's a great question, I had the same wonder a couple of weeks ago ;) Basically don't skip adverts if You want to support the creator. I did a quick search right now for You "Ad payment depends on either CPM (cost per thousand views), where a viewer must watch at least 30 seconds of the ad or half of the ad on a particularly short video, or CPC (cost per click), where the viewer must click on the ad. Skipped ads don’t receive any payment. "

Great info. I've always been interested in how increasing views on past videos work. For example, when I find a new channel, I typically go into their past videos and view from their start. Girl you didn't tell us how much the business makes though. My nosy bone is still itching. Lol. Jk. Another thing to consider for those trying to start a channel is the sheer amount of content on KZbin. For every successful channel, I have seen 10 that are great that many would consider objectively "unsuccessful" from a views and monetization stand point. Everyone wants a piece of the pie as it were. If you look up the stats for how many hours of content are uploaded in an hour, a day, etc. It's staggering. Very interesting video

Wow Christine, Love your honesty and transparency! And I know it's always because you care about us, your followers. Would love to start a KZbin channel but I have so many ideas and nothing solid enough yet. But thank you for the advice and encouragement!

Denise from Germany. Well done girl, you deserve it. Should I watch more of my ads then you get more money? We are skiing in Italy for a week so best be off. I love all your videos and I think they are educational.

I'll gladly sit through ads without skipping, EXCEPT the Clive Palmer ads. I'm sure my fellow Aussies are with me there. 😂
