I think for merch, if you're a lifestyle influencer or a streamer on twitch or YT then you have a good chance of your merch doing well. Also you gotta time your merch drops right to maximize sales. Like release a hoodie right around August so people have reasons to buy a hoodie since it's gonna get chilly from September. Or dropping summer merch right before summer. If you are a streamer that goes to cons, streamers usually release merch a month before the actual con so viewers can buy and rep it when they go to the con. And sometimes those streamers usually do photo shoots of their merch with their streamer friends. And those friends usually hype up the merch and it reaches a wider audience too.
