So far the safest place township to live at within Metro Manila is the BGC. Nice choice though it's a bit expensive, especially among locals. You and your girlfriend can really survive since you're both young professionals. Especially her studying graphic design, which is one of the most sought-after skills employable in the country. The place is a flood-free township since it is ground-elevated and the soil type is so hard called Adobe, not Adobo. Adobe is a soiled rock in nature and it's really really hard ground composition. Commonly found in the highest areas of Taguig and Makati as well.

That’s pretty cheap compare to living here in the USA which is $1500 or more for 1 bedroom not including utility bills and groceries. That’s the reason why some Americans choose to retired in the Philippines because the value of the dollar’s equivalent to Philippines money is so much more.

BGC is safe, clean, and great for foreigners without roots here or families they could call any time. It's very convenient to live there. I lived in the metro for about 28 years and moved out to greater metro manila area (calabarzon) after a while. no regrets. I honestly won't live in metro manila again. BGC is not a fake Manila. BGC is in Taguig, which is a city in Metro Manila. Compared to BGC, Manila looks older because it has been a long period of time in existence while BGC is a very new city and just exist for a few years and of course more modern and clean. Just imagine a building that has not been renovated for more than 50 yrs. Wouldn’t it be looking old and dirty because it has been exposed to Manila weather and all sorts of people living there. It’s not right to say that BGC is a fake. Be nice and just appreciate of a modern city. Living here in California, just made me realized that not all you see in the movie is really as nice as the reality in Los Angeles district. There are also nice places, but not as nice as BGC. The malls here are nothing compared to the malls in Manila, like MOA or SM city or AYALA malls all over Metro Manila. It’s very ordinary here going to malls here in LA. I just appreciate the beauty of some places there in Manila as I have seen in various KZbin channels from foreigner bloggers who actually love the Philippines, just because they had no places like they’ve seen in the Philippines. Actually in other countries they also have great places but I think foreigners appreciate BGC because it’s such a nice city and more affordable to be there in so many ways.

BGC is "pedicured" Manila because it's actually an upscale private real estate development coowned by the government and Ayala corporation. So it's not an organic type of development at all, it really is "branded" private real estate development, it's like living in an upscale HOA but on a bigger scale.

Yes, but that doesn’t explain anything about BGC being called Fake Manila. I would guess that BGC is being called Fake Manila because it’s more developed than the actual capital city, Manila City. Mostly, people expect the capital to be the most developed. So BGC appears like it is the capital city when it’s really not.

@@Fairy037 I didn't say that BGC was "Fake Manila" because technically speaking, BGC is still part of Metro Manila or the NCR! Usually, people just use the term "Manila" colloquially to refer to Metro Manila to shorten it, lol! I think people who call BGC "Fake Manila" are just jealous of BGC and the Philippines in general, so they're trying to give a negative spin about it to undermine the developments they see in BGC or to make a point that not all of Manila look like BGC which is also valid. I personally haven't encountered or heard anyone say that BGC is "Fake Manila", lol!

BGC is part of Metro Manila. It is "aspirational" Manila, no it is reality already since it was made possible if our leaders do things right. Now, there are many township developments in other parts of Metro Manila and in several major cities of the Philippines. Eventually, we will get there. There are many things being built like the new international airport, the subway (which will have stops in BGC), the rail system from Clark to Laguna. Also, Clark is another development that is envisioned to be like BGC, but 10 times bigger. There is much to look forward to in the next 5 to 7 years.

There has been times that we spend over 200,000P or more if we travel in country. Those that say they can live in the Philippines on $1200.00 USD per month are eating and sleeping on the street.

Welcome to the Philippines 😊 New subscriber here just stumble with your Dads Video. What’s your nationality by the way? I remember those accent with my relative who is half German and now they re living in Wilhelm. Reg. For ur stay in BGC, it’s still quite reasonable price if you’re considering the living convenience in a city. Also you both have your own privacy living in a condo and the assurance of sleeping peacefully comparing to those less expensive. i am working in BGC but just planning to rent a bedroom stay since need to do the calculation for the expense and since I’m a fan of meeting and living with other people to avoid anxiety and depression living alone. For the food grocery, you may try to budget for a week and buy in Market market so you could have a lot of options. As for your favorite coffee, nothing beats the coffee you made with effort. just explore using local flavor coffee or buying coffee essentials on your favorite brand (you may visit Tagaytay to try Coffee beans for exploring new coffee experience). You should try to visit also south part in Manila like Batangas, Cavite and Tagaytay for more adventures and Eliz should try the adventure fun. I’ll be more welcome to accompany both of u here. Hoping to bump with you both love birds soon in BGC 😊❤

I don't think BGC is "fake" Manila. Do you know how in Hunger Games there are different districts and each district's financial status and lifestyle differs from the other? It's like that. BGC is one of the wealthy or privileged "districts" of Manila. But if the context is the technicality of municipalities, that's another story.

I will be honest, this seems absurdly cheap for BGC...I don't doubt its possible in PH but BGC is a whole nother ballgame in terms of prices. Most other estimates of cost I see are always around double that to live in BGC.

I live in Vancouver ,Canada and I Pay Cdn1,500.00 for my 1-bedroom suite which convert to Philippine Peso which is 61,500.00 and I think Tims Rent is cheaper compare to my apartment and Tim lives in a very nice BGC and it sad for me coz here in Canada everything is expensive especially the pandemic after Pandemic all the Prices went up that is why i had to budget all my expenses.

I would probably recommend BGC, but you can check on either AirBnb, Booking.com and even Facebook Marketplace (probably the best option for longer stays). 😌

on my own point of view... foreigners should secure their monetary stability in their respected country (like having a career for example a remote job) never trust too much and most of all be ready at all times

I love PickUp coffee. Yes, PhP 50,000 should be an okay budget for one person. I don’t live in BGC since I’m a local who grew up and lived elsewhere in the capital but it’s a nice place to go to from time to time (prefer to hang around Ortigas Center/Greenhills). BGC as “fake Manila”? I can interpret it this way: that it’s not representative of the capital. I don’t agree that it’s “fake”. It’s just a very modern township that used to be a military area.

Which is a lifestyle downgrade. Worked in BGC and it is definitely home of the passionate minds. You’re paying for the business connections, retail and commercial hotspots and not just for a place to stay.
