doesn't taking the mean of an individual item as well as a previously calculated mean put a higher weight on the individual item? ie the value of the rupee should be closer to the $3.70 unless you specifically think the land value is 3 times as accurate as the other calculations if you recalculate the mean by taking the 4 items separately it gives a value of around $4.24 (or $4.25 if you want to round to the nearest multiple of .25 like you did with the previous one) per rupee.

Prices propably skyrocketed after the calamity because there suddenly were very limited goods. I'm assuming Hyrule also has no bank that is producing more new rupees, so now with Hyrule recovering and businesses growing, there are more goods and services to spend money and the limited rupee count is spread amongst more people. Plus, Link is single handedly taking money out of the economy by giving it to great fairies or the Korok forest. The mystic armor is propably also not helping for the future.

From the Netherlands here, when going to Hateno village in Tears of the kingdom. You won't find buffalo's but cows. Making it weird to be buffalo cheese. But looking at the cheese it is definitely no traditional cheese from the Netherlands (like gouda cheese), because cheese tends to be more yellow. The Hateno cheese is way to white to be fat cowmilk cheese. The crust of the cheese however seems to be from a older cheese. Like thick and stuff. I don't think you can tell if ot is old white cheese like the shit put on pasta or young frenchisch cheese. (Calling this cheese put for cheddar is a war chrime.)

As someone who’s from Maine, it feels crazy whenever someone mentions it in a video and I always have to double check my hearing is in tact. As for pricing- 45k sounds about right but it totally depends where you live. On the water, especially in Southern Maine (further from Canada), one acre could be worth from around 50k to a few hundred grand. More North (towards Canada) in the state, acres can be ridiculously cheap. My guess is around 1-10k an acre (although i could be wrong, but ik it’s certainly not very expensive), however some areas are definitely still more expensive. That was very much a surprise tho

This is a pretty great video. It fills the niche for me that early game theory did, back when he was unashamedly a nerd doing science and pixel measurements, and didn't just cover the latest analog horror series popular with 12 year olds. However, by being a nerd, you've opened yourself to a traditional "um actually". In this video, made the mistake of ignoring how each item is produced in hyrule vs earth. Milk in this world is factory farmed by cows with ridiculous output, meanwhile in hyrule milk has to be manually gathered on a small scale from cows that probably aren't being pumped full of horomones. This will affect the price of cheese as well. As for salmon, I don't know too much about how it's caught on earth, but I imagine it's very different from totk.

4:45 Hateno cheese looks like a soft cheese like brie or argental. The rind would make me say the latter. On a quick Google check for top results in my area, cheddar is five-sevenths the cost of brie and is one-third the cost of brebirousse d'argental. Those so inclined may adjust accordingly. EDIT: This is what I get for not watching the full video before commenting. Jumped the gun. There are huge holes in the cheese in the shot at 5:20, and the milk right next to it has a picture of a cow on it. This indicates the cheese is not as creamy as I thought and suggests the cheese is probably made from cow's milk. Could be a muenster at only nine-tenths the price of cheddar.

Should have begun with, "Hello, internet! Welcome to Jopes' theory!" And, of course, finished with "But that's just a theory...a JOPES' theory!" Or if you're not against gratuitous adult references and cursing, Shoddycast's "THE SCIENCE!" is a better fit, though there's the obvious limitation that he has no pithy lines to reference. Except, y'know, yelling "THE SCIENCE!" Awesome video, by the way, though beware walking down this path. For down it, you're courting pedantic commentary the likes of which you are not yet equipped to handle. "Well, actually, you can't compare land values in Maine to property values in Hyrule! They're completely different cultures and governments!" And "It's completely insane to map the present value of milk and cheese onto historical, agricultural societies. That stuff was WAY more expensive back then!" Then you'll get the Super Saiyan pedants who out-pedant the pedants by insisting that such bedrock things as food don't really increase or decrease in value -- they *are* value -- ultimately, they're what's used to measure how valuable everything else is.

Fun video but its migthy flawed in its logic. Milk is solely produced in Hateno vs real world where milk is produced everywhere. This makes milk more worth in Hyrule. Like a lot more worth our milk is dirt cheap. Cheese is a good example of this in real life cause wtf are american prices for cheese. However as cheese is unique to hateno the $ price could be fine again. Both prices are inflated crazy, the question is just who charged it more. And the landplot just becomes silly, as housing prices in the US became beyond reasonable. You can buy literal castles in europe for the same price as houses in the US. The same is true for plots. Result: rupees are probably worth a lot less.
