The blood alcohol content of .005 is where drivers are distracted. At .024 they begin speeding and driving too fast for conditions. At .04 they weave between the lines and at .05 they exceed the lines. The current blood alcohol content of.08 and .04 for Commercial Drivers is not based upon science nor public safety considerations but determined by huge lobbying by the alcohol industry. Israel has DUI BAC of .024 and.005 for Commercial Drivers based upon science; we would be well for US to follow their leadership. Sober Adults deserve discounts on insurance premiums.

Lots of alcoholics drive drunk every day, and never have a problem. Their tolerance makes the effects of alcohol less noticeable because it's their normal. For a someone who doesn't drink often, a .08% BC will feel like they're drunk. To an alcoholic, they're probably not feeling those effects at all. Their driving is probably far worse when they're sober because they feel like shit. I don't care what you think about what I've said. It's true, and I've witnessed it over an over in my 6 decades on this planet.
