I was very lucky to be the Architect of these projects. It was a pleasure working with the clients/owners. David Miles of dbm Architects & Associates designs/builds many different VR units. But not sure why they keep saying "Alex" was a builder. Nude from Plumb Construction out of Bakersville, NC was the builder. I oversaw CA, but he cleared the slopes, installed the foundations, built the decks and platforms, set up the domes, and started all the interior builds. Afterwhich, a third party came in and did the interior finishes. They were a fun project to be part of.

Liar? David Miles of dbm Architects and Assiciates design the decks, Structure, and interior layouts. They also oversaw the CA of the project as Nute from Plumb Construction actually built them. Plumb Construction out of Bakersville actually built all three of these, setup the domes, and started all interiors. Then another crew came in for interior finishes. WOW....I stayed at Vero Mountain (this geodome) in March. I was blown away by what the owners (Chris and Tom) and Alex had accomplished. Building on the side of a hill is never easy but no expense was spared. I wish them continued success.

Portable A/C and not a mini split? The difference is so great with the noise. I had a portable a/c before I got my mini split system and it's way way too loud. For that kind of nightly rate they should have a better/quieter A/C

My friends did an Airbnb with these things in the Santa Barbara area and they got busted for the deck. They blew off the county and the county came back and gave them notice that they would have to pay $1000 per day in fines if they didn't remove it. my girlfriend was making $10,000 per month on Airbnb and her income went to zero for this very reason.

Wow what timing. I was looking at one of those domes for a glamping site that I'm building. I'm super curious about items that create heat, that are close to the walls (the fireplace, toaster) if they'll eventually damage the walls? Also want to know how long that material lasts and what kind of upkeep is to be expected.

I want to build one in Colorado in the mountains at an elevation of 6,000 - 9,000 feet. I am trying to figure out how to run plumbing and dealing with winter to avoid freezing pipes.

And also in your area there is a good chance you're gonna need a permit for that plumbing and the deck. My friends got busted for doing it and they ended up having to rip everything out after spending many thousands of dollars. I lived in one for five years in the mountains of Santa Barbara. so they are pretty cool in a moderate climate. Yours is a whole different story. Also be careful of the condensation buildup on the inside because if you breathe and sleep in them for a period of time you will wake up and everything is wet from condensation.

One aspect to these geodesic dome's is that if two or three people sleep in them with everything closed up tight your breathing will add a lot of humidity and if it is cold outside you will wake up to wet walls everywhere from the condensation. If it gets really cold you will wake up to condensation dripping on your face. If you eat in there you will wake up to mice and they will chew through that canvas to get inside. You can do a lot to help keep the bugs out but you will probably not succeed. Spider bites are very common. I lived in one of these and also the canvas goes to hell in a matter of years. And that pretty see-through acrylic will also go to hell in very short order if the sun shines on it. These things are super cute when you first install them and they turn into a piece of crap in very short order. Also be careful with your jurisdiction as you are supposed to have a permit for the deck and any plumbing and in California you will get busted and you will have to tear it all down. I specialize in off grid power systems and I know about 15 people who have been busted by the county and they had to remove them and their Airbnb investment Went to shit overnight.

He probably did, these guys just have more money than they know what to do with so they throw it at tiny homes instead of actual houses. $80,000 for a deck is ridiculous, you could build an actual 800sqft house with that much in North Carolina if you did a lot of the work yourself. Piles $5,000, Lumber $10,000, Labor $7,000, equipment rental $3,000. He should be at $25,000 at the most for a deck. 6x6x16 pressure treated lumber is only $60-$70 each. Even if they needed 50 of them, that is only $3,500, plus extra for decking and other things which should cost less.

$100k gets 400sq ft. +Utility hook up. So if you have a couple buddies to help you build a foundation/deck and assemble it, the savings on a dome kit are there. This guy over priced decorated a "custom" build.
