Every country has different insurance policies, terms and costs so it is best to look into a professional insurance agent for that. This is also the case with licenses and permits.

@caliohcoffee Жыл бұрын
Not so fast. First -- consider the building permits if you're going to make any changes to the space. Then consider how much a contractor will charge to build the space to your specifications ($100 per sq/ft minimum). Then pay the health department and their fees. Shoot, the sign alone on my cafe cost $5,000, and it's nothing special. Just illuminated letters. The rent will be somewhere in the $2-4 per sq/ft range, then NNN. The deposit on a lease on a 1000 sq/ft cafe alone would be about $ 9000 (first, last, security. Just what I mentioned here, you're well above $15,000. Now, go buy equipment and supplies. Then some milk and beans. Make sure you have three months in reserve because you can't expect to start slinging 400 cups per day on day one. Be safe and start with $100,000 minimum.

The ball park range is mainly for North America. For other countries, the biggest costs (rent, equipment, labour) will be quite different. BUT if you ignore the range, you can still build out a good idea how much it costs to start a coffee shop in your country with some more research and noting down all the elements I cover.

Hey I was wondering. I live in Malaysia where our currency is about RM4 = $1. So lets say it takes theoretically $100,000 in Canada, will it directly translate to RM100,000 or RM400,000 to open a place in my country? I wonder if this is a generalisation I could make or if its completely irrelevant
@WilsonKLee3 жыл бұрын
The cost range is generalized for North American market. I'm sure there are major differences in average commercial rent, cost of ingredients, renovations, etc. in your country so I wouldn't put too much weight in the converted range. What you can do is use the categories to do more research on each to find out how much it would cost in your country.
