Don't let your animal waste go into the stream, it will poison it. Might as well compost the poop. When I started gardening, my land grew grass fine and I tilled it well and added more fertilizer but I got very little back. It takes time to get the microbes you need in the soil in abundance. Second year was better, but not quite there yet. For the work involved, I wish I had just fertilized and tilled and just waited for the next year, maybe just sow some nitrogen fixing beans.

Thanks for the info man. You have a beautiful piece of property, My asawa and I have been looking at property for 3 years and definitely in the province but in the Bicol region near Naga City. We already built one small house 3 years ago and my wifes sister and husband live in it (filipino style house built of CHB) and it's in the city and we don't want to live in the city. Property where we want to build is a lot more expensive than what you have it runs between 500 to 3000 pesos per square meter so be thankful (as I'm sure you are) for what you have.

Seems cameras always make the property look bigger than in person. 6.4 acres is a large property. You got a great price on the property based on the crazy prices I have seen. Of course location matters but I would jump on almost any property for that price. Farming seems easy for most people who know nothing but ask anyone who grew up doing it and you will find it’s very hard work. I would recommend at a minimum having a what we call county extension agent assist you in determining best use. I know the government has farmer assistance departments just don’t know the name of it. Might be part of the university. Don’t waste your money fertilizing until you test your soil. Get yourself help rather than listening to relatives or neighbors. Especially if they don’t have their own successful farm. Good luck

I grew up on a small farm. Work 7 days a week and crazy hours and very meager returns. Vulnerable to weather and pests and neighbours animals etc. Would never wish to do farming for a living. Maybe a small garden for veggies and dwarf fruits. Wouldnt even dream of having people work for me on a farm. Been there. Done that. Got the scars. No more. If or when I retire, I'd like to rather chill 😅
