We travel back up to Aintree and identify a few issues with our designs. Can we change them?

In the history of narrowboat building, one has never been built to original schedule, i am amazed yours is being built so quickly, i had a boat built by Aintree, Covid kicked in and it was 11 months late, so many things can happen which can hold the build up, like engine supply for example you cant just buy them off the shelf and get them the next day, one poor bastard actually died before his boat was finished at Aintree, no boat builder delivers on time believe me.

@@ericgoodall-w5z You say ours is being built quickly and when I look at other boat building vlogs I do agree with you. I hope you are happy with your boat enjoying the peace and tranquility that life on the canals I hope will bring.

@@Narrowboat-photography I am happy with the boat, i advise you to check out the guy lenny for your electrics he knows his onions, a fuel gauge would be nice as you will be surprised at how many stretches dont have a fuel station, you dont want to run out of fuel.

@ yes we had Lenny do our lithium and we also had a gauge put in, at £250 though maybe a stick would have just done as well 🤣🤣

It's very difficult to design a boat when the shell isn't there for measurements and double checks. there will always be changes and compromises to be made. we have had to make a few changes as we go but that is all part of the fun and a lot less stressful without a deadline and fitting out yourself.

@@AtaleofTattonTug You are just showing off now 🤣 there are quite a few things we did that just haven’t worked out, luckily Duncan can sort it out for us 😉

Hi,enjoying the updates . Are you on board now ? Totally confused as seem to be going back kwards with vlogs 😂😂. Thought doing things in France was problematic but your journey has been epic . We are having a boat built next year !!! with Swan , so hopefully it won't be as traumatic as your marathon build. Keep smiling 😊😊 Roy and Janet

You are not the only one confused 🥴 and I’m editing them 😂. We were originally going to go with swan, we paid our deposit but when it got a bit nearer the build time the price increased by quite a lot, they do build a nice boat though. I’m sure you both will be really happy with it. Yes we are🤫

Hi Jo and Duncan, Recently I have been reading up on sacrificial anodes for steel hull boats, fascinating subject. Do take the time to do some reading, if you have not, as so many boat owners do not install enough of them. The recommended distance seems to be about one meter between each zinc anode, maybe that is a little excessive but.... Considering their purpose, and the number that Wey Aye Man has, you might consider having a few more added before leaving Aintree. Just a thought to consider since the purpose of anodes is not fully appreciated. Take care, Mark Alberta, Canada

Duncan has read that on this length of boat 4 isn't really enough but it's where to put them. And if I'm on the tiller they wouldn't last long!

Hi Jo, I think that you will do just fine on the tiller lol after all Duncan is going to have to deal with the locks. Another thought, if you have not considered, DO get yourselves a flotation device for both your phones and keys. Everybody on the canals, that I know of, have dropped both in the water. I think Amazon has floating covers for phones. Mark Alberta, Canada@@Narrowboat-photography
