Regardless of how small, or large, your space, a small nursery on your own property can be a great money maker for anyone of any age.

You are amazing with the amount of inspiration you put out in your videos! I've rooted 4 cuttings for myself in the past 2 years, out of 6 cuttings. So I know that I CAN. Your videos have given me the inspiration I needed to take this to the next level. I have around 100 cuttings right now that are in the process of rooting! Thank you so much and please keep putting these "you can do it!" Videos out; I need them!

Just go big! If you stick 100 cuttings, maybe 10 or 20 will root. Maybe 50. Worse case scenario, none root, and you're out exactly ZERO. It does not hurt to try. Good job!

@@savvydirtfarmer Thank you! I needed those words too cuz I'm putting so much pressure on myself as I see several leaves dry out and shrivel! But like you said, if they ALL fail, I'm out nothing! And, I've GAINED experience! I tell my daughters failing is sometimes necessary before you can succeed. So, I'll still keep trying! I would have more than 100 if not for 2 things, cuz wow who knew that clipping cuttings could be so addictive! The 2 things are, I'm in a short term living arrangement that could change on a dime, and my inventory to cut from is depleated for the year, as far as trees/shrubs go. I'd have a whole lot more if I could. I just have to be patient.

I am quitting my now part time home based plastic business in the coming winter. In the winter I can make things I want mostly from wood to sell on craigslist etc. I will not take orders for them. I have started to get some plants together from plants in my yard and feel like it will be a great fit for me. I haven't started my learning for propagation in numbers. I will have to make big use of landscape cloth. Our West coast environment is great for growing including lots of fast growing weeds. Mild climate most of the time except now heat domes in summer and snowy periods in winter. You have helped me figure out if this can work for me.

I'm in Western Kentucky and am wanting to start a backyard nursery. Should I start buying stuff to sell in the spring now or wait until closer to spring time?
@savvydirtfarmer

Stuff is hard to get in the Spring because EVERYONE is looking to load up their nurseries. If you can get your hands on any evergreens, hostas, hydrangeas (especially paniculatas), these all over winter just fine out in the open in pots. Many others also, but those come to mind quickly and are plants I grow a lot of.

No, it's governed in my state just like a farm growing and selling hay or something similar.
