Im looking at all the documents and it works out to about $40 which seems like a great investment for a side hustle while in grad school. I would love more info like how to advertise my services if possible.

Hey Marissa! I'm glad you said this. Definitely not all Officiants make that kind of money. However, it is possible for any officiant to make this kind of money. If someone is in a rural area, and in a very unpopulated part of the country, they will have to be willing to travel and cover a larger geographic area. It's all about building your business and skill set (what you offer, specialize in, package offerings, etc.) based around your area. Advertising on Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc. each cost at least $400/month.

To make that kind of money you have to be very good and very confident. The officiant business is saturated and people don't have the money to pay those kinds of fees. Maybe the really big weddings with rich people don't care about how much the officiant costs, but the rest of the population does. That's why people get married at courthouses or at their churches.

Thanks for watching. Actually, with packages you can make $500 to $1500 per wedding. I know A LOT of wedding officiants making a nice full-time income off of officiating. You do need to be good and confident...but I hope if you go to any professional that does any service they are good and confident. Most of my couples don't have a lot of money and want a small ceremony on the beach. My average client bill is $700. It's work, but it's very doable.

I don't believe for a second that you know a LOT of full-time wedding officiants. And nobody in most states is going to be able to charge $700 for an elopement unless they are also providing the venue.
