thats insane, im planning to get into this. Im from southern california, but i dont see any openings on their page. I'll move to another state if i have to, to get this job. what state are you in? Is the industry being taken over by subcontractors?
@romel4202 ай бұрын
@@Oscar-vj5rb Currently not hiring for regular field techs in SoCal. Keep checking though, you never know when they may open up. I can't tell you specifics of why and when, but they may start hiring for more technicians in the not too distant future. In the meantime, if you're serious about considering a career with Spectrum and in need of a job, they are hiring for other entry-level positions in retail and sales. Do good there and your chances of transferring to a tech position when it opens is greater than them hiring a brand new guy 'off the street'. They will always prefer an internal transfer over an inexperienced new hire. Already knowing the company products and services is a huge benefit when interviewing for a transfer. That's if you prefer to not have to go out of state to get into field ops. If you're dead set on starting as a tech and willing to move, keep in mind starting pay as well as top end pay is tied to the CoL of the area you move to. Only CA and NY have the highest paid field and maintenance techs in the company, but you also already know how stupid expensive life is here in SoCal lol.

This is a entry level position basically any one can apply. (driving record,criminal exception) How well you prove to do quality work, obey terrible hours, all weather late nights, and fight often terrible expectations... You love overtime.

They are the worst ISP to work for. They only start you off at 19 an hour. Even if you have experience from other ISPs. They don't even have a union. Frontier Communcations, then At&t, then Cox and then Spectrum is at the bottom.

@Todd.T Жыл бұрын
Just like what the guy in the video says, that was on you. You should have focused on a maintenance position. No crazy customer's houses to go in. You don't have to worry about wiring done by ignorant people or electricians (yes, they are the same.) You pick from the list of calls, what is priority. They don't tell you how long it will take to do a job and how long the drive will be to the next one. Pay is more. Job is more secure. You get more respect because you can't be easily replaced.

In my experience SOME maintenance techs arrive at their position just to be lazy. I have known some field techs that did terrible work at the houses they visited. They would also camp out of there jobs for extended periods which affects the work load for other techs in the area. Then when they become maintenance they complain about how busy they are, especially when they are called for a bucket assist. Not all techs are the same but there are many like this out there not just maintenance techs. Ive seen evidence of many field techs cheating their way up the NCTI progression tests. idiots actually open browser tabs on company TRACKED(down to the click of a mouse) office computers and typing in the ncti questions. sickening really. Just a title at that point. No real knowledge or experience. Some tech blow through the ncti courses too fast, with in a year. you need the field experience combined with the book knowledge to be a good tech other wise you will have a title of a tech 6 and perform as a tech 2. Food for though.😉😘
@BH_Papa3 ай бұрын
have u ever worked for spectrum longer than a year ? if you made it to field tech 6 you earned no matter if you cheated on a computer test you still are judged based off physical work with performance scorecards and you gotta get 2/3 that’s tier 3 or higher to promote.

@@BH_Papa I have been working for spectrum for 7 years and counting. Its all politics bud. So if you work for them you should know very well spectrum technician employees differ greatly between each other as far as their knowledge and experience. Dont be blind to the lies. It is all survival.
@318GrandManАй бұрын
Not gonna lie man. Been working for the company for a while now. Those computer test literally gives you no knowledge on what you end up doing in the field. The stuff that was learned on tech 4 progression ncti was the stuff they told me in the class when I processed to tech 5 business class which they told us "Most of this is Enterprise stuff that you'll never use from outdated books" if people wanna Google answers for those tests to get more money to help put food on their table then so be it. None of that crap is gonna help. Only getting in the field and actually getting the experience means literally anything with this job.
