Nozi’s point about swimming lessons is the same I shared with my partner. That I want to afford my child access to the things or activities I didn’t have. So I do believe money is very important before having a child.

I had my daughter when I was 20, I'm 30 now and everyone is asking when am I having another child. I refuse to have another child while I haven't been able to give my first child the best of the best as single parent. I am trying but I don't want to take things away from her because I need the money for the new baby. I hear what Skhu is saying but we want better for our children that what we had. They need to have different struggles than us

Am 20 and i have 2 younger siblings and i am always scared to ask my mother anything that has to do with money because am always thinking that my little brothers need it more having kids whilst the is not enough money puts a burden on them even though you try hard as a parent your kids will carry the pain in secret

I can totally relate. I do not want to have another child because I refuse to have to halve the little I'm giving my son for another child. I feel that he will have a much better chance in life if I focus all the resources on him and not have to split them into 2 or 3. Also my son is so used to getting all these extras (I'm sure to him it's just normal not extra), that having him give up those things would be totally unfair to him. After all one child in a good well resourced school is far better than 2 children in a sub-standard public school (again these are my beliefs)

Sis,you literally took the words out of my mouth. I have a 13 year old daughter and I'm 31. Having another baby is the last thing on my mind. I also feel I still need to give her the best while she's still the only one. And apart from finance,she is now a teenager and that alone needs my attention,I'm not willing to deprive her my presence when she needs it most.

I don't think it ever gets to be enough but if u are in a position of providing a privileged lifestyle then we can talk 10k but for most South Africans that's not a practical amount. My daughter is almost 3 and I decided to wait to have her coz I thought I was waiting to be "set", 10 years later I was still an unemployed graduate but life has gotten better but I've been on public health with her since and now there are those Unjani clinics where u can pay R200 for both medications and consultation so Skhu's R1400 is doable. Or else most of us would never afford the privilege of parenthood xem

I am with Nozi here, for me I feel like I need to have a car and medical aid to have a child honestly. Kids are expensive that's what Nozi is trying to put across. You can raise your kid with r1200 and Nozi raise her kids with R10k trust and believe there will be a huge difference between those two kids. Our kids must not be raised the same way we were they must have it better.

Like when you are unemployed and literally don't have money why have a baby??
@DzunyB
@DzunyB Жыл бұрын
@@triciakekana reproduction is a natural and biological desire that doesn't just go away because one is poor or broke. I think we are too hard on each other, ofcoz if u have 10 kids unemployed then that's a total different story but honestly u can never plan life to the tee, u might have a job and medical aid and a car today and tomorrow it's all gone and not because u are irresponsible but because life happens. Where I am today I can afford to have 5 kids but I will not judge anyone who desires the privilege of parenthood coz I can speak from a place of privilege and say they shouldn't. U can offer a child a nice childhood within those means without medical aid, car and and.... especially if you don't have the burden of city life like most South Africans. But of coz we all see and understand life differently

Me Joaquina as a mother 2, the older is almost 12 and a toddler with 6 months, money will not be enough, unless you are very very rich. Its not a matter of how much, cause i couldn't say, the cost of things now is unbelievable from the diappers to the medical aid and the nanny OMG.... Looking back things were very different Mrs Skhu, we shouldn't even compare, the most important lesson i took for myself is to budget always, define what suits your family best and make sure that when the child comes you as a parent will be there and make it work no matter what, seek for help Nozi, cause you'll need it. Remenber not to be anxious about this, cause now its phase 1, enjoy it, phase 2 when your baby arrive youll have this conversation with another point of view. Everything will work out well Mama N

I think life in SA is extremely difficult and financially crippling us. It's difficult to afford yourself as individual not to mention taking care of your parents as they tried to do the same with you. Now, a bundle of Joy becomes a bundle of nightmare and that is not what God intended for us. Uthe zalanani nande knowing very well He will take care of us all. Manje ewuu! Economy is crippling us isinkwa R20. If the economic state of affairs in our country were balanced and fair it would not be so terrifying to have children. Inkinga umnotho hhayi obundle of joy.

The cost of raising kids depends on the lifestyle you choose to live as their parents. We all wish for a certain lifestyle which is honestly expensive, but at some point we have to live according to our means, things get better in time. It does not mean, when you do not have a lot of money you cant have kids. Money is never enough. I do not have a lot of money myself but I have 2 happy babies, well fed, have access to good health facilities, they go to good schools. There are always alternatives like Skhu said. It depends on the country in which you live by the way Batswana should have more kids 😂

The thing is, you can never be financially ready for a child, because although you control your finances, you don't control the economy. So many people planned for children, financially, but found themselves in a crises as the years go by. Some had children unplanned and their children had a comfortable life financially. I don't think planning for children around finances is wise. I'm a first time mom to an unplanned baby. My worry throughout the pregnancy was finances. After my baby was born I realized that babies are only expensive for people who work. I told my sister how grateful I was that I got my baby while still at university because I learned not to be a victim of the useless baby products. When we talk about need, R1400 is enough like Skhu said.

So government clinic check ups are more effective in pregnancy than gynaes.. i realised this with my second child obviously first time pregnancy you want what we esteem as top tier... Gov clinics do thorough pregnancy checkup each month and its free. Gynaes is literally 10-15 min and we pay a lot... one can have monthly gov clinic checkups with quarterly gynae check up... Knowing all the information i still went to gynae even on my 2nd pregnancy.. but 3rd + I honestly will go to gov

Skhu you practical there, I would compromise on attending local clinic go to the doctor every after 3 months. I would cancel nanny use creche and use car when going to work so I can come back quick. Mmm eish mara R5000 is needed at least it's not easy.
