Go easy on that "patonggo". A Thai doctor did a video on foods to avoid and that was at the top of the list. He pointed out that if the vendors are selling them for only two or three baht each, it impossible that they're using fresh oil. They reuse that oil for weeks. And the place you're buying it is selling them for only one baht each?! You can see it in the video. That oil is probably a month old.

Age old question about money and living in Thailand. There are so many variables to add, do you drink? do you smoke? do you like the party lifestyle or quiet village/small town life. It is an open book regards what you need on the money front. If you are looking to make a living teaching, you need to have a degree and a TEFL. You will be ok, but don't expect more than 30-35k a month in the bigger cities. You could top that up with private tuition or you could work in an international school. The one thing I would say is that long term it is not a plan to settle down with. Don't forget also, you will need to account for health and accident insurance. My advice is simply this. Unless you have above $2000 a month steady income, then just enjoy the holidays here. I do not drink or smoke and live in the boonies, I still need around $1500 a month to pay the bills and look after family. Think with your big head and not your little head. Just my thoughts.

There are many vlogs as to how much you need, including me. Lifestyle budget and location play an important part. The girl you chose to be with can increase or decrease your budget in a big or small way. Start being happy with what you have then go from there. Best wishes.

Like you said it all comes down to having an income unless you have a lot of cash. To younger people I would say remember you arent a citizen and likely will never be . So just make sure you save enough to live back in your home country if you need to move back in 20 or 30 years. In Canada medical is free for citizens. In Thailand it isnt free for foreigners. These are things to think about.

Hi there Good video and you look like a very different guy from a month or so ago 👍👍👍 , good on you Ricky. The young guy wanting to live here with a $20k savings behind him I’d say is way too little, I don’t want to piss on his chips but being realistic will do him more good than others saying jump in the waters great , a red flag is he wants to be in a beach resort area , that will give him so many temptations to not work and spend so much more money than he thinks he has , teachers jobs are plentiful but most young teachers want a school near a beach area so when they are off at the weekend everything is close to them , so these areas are much sought after , my Thai partner is a teacher and every six months foreign teachers come and go , some stay but not many as they want near the beaches not cities or remote areas , other digital nomad type of work I don’t know about , if you bring $20k and don’t work but party you might last 2 years , probably less in all honesty, and you’ll just be another sob story on the Pattaya news Regards Davy 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇹🇭

You should definitely go easy on that "patonggo". Recently, I found a place that sells it. I hadn't had it in donkey's years, so was stoked to find the place. You're right. It does taste good, but after the second morning I had them, I saw a video by a Thai doctor about foods to avoid. "Patonggo" was at the top of the list. He made a very good point: if they're selling it for only a couple of baht each, that means it's impossible that they're using clean oil. When they finish making them, they pour the oil in a can to be reused. They reuse some of that oil for weeks. The day after watching the video I went by the vendor, and sure enough the doctor was right; the oil was black. It turned me right off the stuff. 🤮 And the place you're buying it is selling it for only a baht/piece?! You can see it in the video. That oil is probably a month old.

I just got back from Thailand this week. I spend over $1,000 usd per month. That’s because I love going shopping buying gifts for friends and families. That’s excluding rent. I stayed with my bf and I loved. No bills. Cheap foods. 50 baht per dish. To move to Thailand I would need 100k! To built a house, buy car, truck, and motorbikes. Do farming to earn some income. You really need a lot to move to Thailand to live comfortably. Trust me!
